Description
AstroSolar™ provides a neutral white view of the Sun, unlike other films or glass filters that often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This issue is particularly noticeable with an orange-tinted Sun, where it becomes difficult to observe faculae regions, which are predominantly visible in the blue wing of the spectrum.
Because of its neutral color balance, AstroSolar™ supports the use of various color or interference filters. These filters allow observers to focus on specific spectral passbands, enabling detailed investigations of different layers within the solar atmosphere.
Exceptional Quality and Eye Safety
AstroSolar™ is virtually free from pinholes due to its double-sided coating. This design significantly reduces the chance of overlapping pinholes, a problem even with high-end glass filters. While pinholes may still occur, they are extremely rare—approximately 1 in 10,000 in optical density 2.5.
The Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been rigorously tested and approved for eye safety by Germany's National Bureau of Standards (PTB). It is also CE-certified under EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). Every step of the manufacturing process is thoroughly tested, and coatings are continuously inspected to ensure consistent quality and maximum eye safety.

The Baader AstroSolar™ film filter is built with a lightweight yet durable frame made from 18-gauge aluminum, powder-coated white for added durability. It features heavy-duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews to ensure a secure and stable fit during use.
