AstroSolar™ provides a neutral white view of the Sun, unlike other films or glass filters that often create a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This is especially problematic with an orange-tinted Sun, where it becomes challenging to observe faculae regions, which are primarily visible in the blue wing of the spectrum.

Thanks to its neutral color balance, AstroSolar™ allows the use of various color or interference filters. These filters enable observers to focus on specific spectral passbands, allowing detailed studies of different layers within the solar atmosphere.

Unmatched Quality and Safety

AstroSolar™ is virtually free from pinholes due to its double-sided coating. This design minimizes the chance of overlapping pinholes, an issue even with high-end glass filters. Pinholes may still occur but are extremely rare—approximately 1 in 10,000 in optical density 2.5.

The Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been rigorously tested and approved for eye safety by Germany's National Bureau of Standards (PTB). It is also CE-certified under EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). Every step of the manufacturing process is thoroughly tested, and coatings are constantly inspected to ensure consistent quality and maximum eye safety.
