Astrozap AstroSolar solar filter, 155mm-165mm (45995)

AstroSolar™ provides a neutral white image of the Sun, setting it apart from other films and glass filters that often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This neutral tone is particularly important for observing faculae regions, which are primarily visible in the blue wing of the spectrum. With an orange-tinted Sun, these regions become difficult to detect, making AstroSolar™ a superior choice.

Description

AstroSolar™ provides a neutral white image of the Sun, setting it apart from other films and glass filters that often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This neutral tone is particularly important for observing faculae regions, which are primarily visible in the blue wing of the spectrum. With an orange-tinted Sun, these regions become difficult to detect, making AstroSolar™ a superior choice.

Enhanced Observation Capabilities

The neutral color balance of AstroSolar™ allows users to employ various color or interference filters. These filters enable observers to focus on specific spectral passbands, facilitating detailed investigations of different layers within the solar atmosphere.

Superior Quality and Pinholes Prevention

AstroSolar™ is virtually free from pinholes due to its double-sided coating, a feature that significantly reduces the likelihood of overlapping pinholes—a common issue even with high-end glass filters. While pinholes may still occur, they are extremely rare, appearing in only 1 out of 10,000 cases in optical density 2.5.

Certified Eye Safety

The Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been rigorously tested and approved for eye safety by Germany's National Bureau of Standards (PTB). It is also CE-certified according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). Every aspect of its production is carefully monitored, and coatings are continuously inspected to ensure consistent quality and maximum eye safety.

Durable and Reliable Construction

The Baader AstroSolar™ film filter features a lightweight yet sturdy frame made from 18-gauge aluminum, powder-coated white for added durability. Heavy-duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews are included to ensure a secure and stable fit during use.
