Astrozap AstroSolar solar filter, 193mm-204mm (45996)

AstroSolar™ presents the Sun in a neutral white color, unlike other films or glass filters that often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This difference is especially important when observing an orange-tinted Sun, as it becomes challenging to detect faculae regions, which are predominantly visible in the blue wing of the spectrum.

Description

AstroSolar™ presents the Sun in a neutral white color, unlike other films or glass filters that often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This difference is especially important when observing an orange-tinted Sun, as it becomes challenging to detect faculae regions, which are predominantly visible in the blue wing of the spectrum.

Versatility with Filters

Thanks to its neutral color balance, AstroSolar™ allows the use of various color or interference filters. This feature enables observers to focus on specific spectral passbands, making it possible to study different layers within the solar atmosphere in greater detail.

Pinholes Virtually Eliminated

AstroSolar™ is designed to be virtually free from pinholes due to its double-sided coating. This unique feature minimizes the chance of overlapping pinholes, a common issue even with high-end glass filters. While pinholes can still occur, they are extremely rare—approximately 1 in 10,000 in optical density 2.5.

Certified Safety Standards

The Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been thoroughly tested and approved for eye safety by Germany's National Bureau of Standards (PTB). It is also CE-certified according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). Every step of its production is carefully monitored, and coatings are continuously inspected to ensure consistent quality and maximum eye protection.

Durable Construction

The Baader AstroSolar™ filter is built with a lightweight yet durable frame made from 18-gauge aluminum, powder-coated white for added durability. Heavy-duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews ensure a secure and stable fit during use.
