AstroSolar™ delivers a neutral white view of the Sun, unlike other films or glass filters that often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This is especially important when observing an orange-tinted Sun, as faculae regions—primarily visible in the blue wing of the spectrum—become difficult to detect without a neutral color balance.
Enhanced Observation with Filters
The neutral color balance of AstroSolar™ allows for the use of various color or interference filters. These filters enable observers to focus on specific spectral passbands, supporting detailed investigations of different layers within the solar atmosphere.
Pinholes Virtually Eliminated
AstroSolar™ is designed to be essentially free from pinholes, thanks to its double-sided coating. This feature significantly reduces the chance of overlapping pinholes, a common issue even with premium glass filters. While pinholes may still occur, they are extremely rare—approximately 1 in 10,000 in optical density 2.5.
Certified for Eye Safety
The Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been rigorously tested and approved for eye safety by Germany's National Bureau of Standards (PTB). Additionally, it is CE-certified according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). Every step of its production process is carefully monitored, and coatings are continuously inspected to ensure consistent quality and maximum eye protection.
