Astrozap AstroSolar solar filter, 174mm-184mm (45998)

AstroSolar™ provides a neutral white view of the Sun, unlike other films or glass filters that often create a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This neutral color balance is particularly important for observing faculae regions, which are predominantly visible in the blue wing of the spectrum. With an orange-tinted Sun, these regions are much harder to detect, making AstroSolar™ an ideal choice.

Description

AstroSolar™ provides a neutral white view of the Sun, unlike other films or glass filters that often create a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This neutral color balance is particularly important for observing faculae regions, which are predominantly visible in the blue wing of the spectrum. With an orange-tinted Sun, these regions are much harder to detect, making AstroSolar™ an ideal choice.

Versatility and Enhanced Observations

The neutral tone of AstroSolar™ allows observers to use various color or interference filters. These filters enable focused observation of specific spectral passbands, facilitating detailed studies of different layers within the solar atmosphere.

Pinholes Virtually Eliminated

AstroSolar™ is designed to be essentially free from pinholes due to its double-sided coating. This innovative feature minimizes the chance of overlapping pinholes, a common issue even with high-end glass filters. While pinholes may still occur, they are extremely rare—approximately 1 in 10,000 in optical density 2.5.

Certified Eye Safety

Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been rigorously tested and approved for eye safety by Germany's National Bureau of Standards (PTB). It is also CE-certified according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). Every stage of its production undergoes careful monitoring, and coatings are continuously inspected to ensure consistent quality and maximum eye protection.

Robust and Lightweight Construction

The Baader AstroSolar™ filter is constructed with a lightweight yet durable frame made from 18-gauge aluminum, powder-coated white for added durability. Heavy-duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews ensure a secure and stable fit during use.
