Astrozap Solar Filters AstroSolar 178mm-188mm Celestron 6" SE & Evolution (58543)

With AstroSolar™, the Sun appears in a neutral white color, unlike other films or glass filters that often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This difference is especially important when observing faculae regions, which are primarily visible in the blue wing of the spectrum. An orange-tinted Sun makes these regions difficult to detect, but AstroSolar™ ensures clarity and precision.

Description

With AstroSolar™, the Sun appears in a neutral white color, unlike other films or glass filters that often produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image by cutting parts of the spectrum. This difference is especially important when observing faculae regions, which are primarily visible in the blue wing of the spectrum. An orange-tinted Sun makes these regions difficult to detect, but AstroSolar™ ensures clarity and precision.

Enhanced Versatility for Observers

The neutral color balance of AstroSolar™ allows for the use of various color or interference filters. These filters help observers focus on specific spectral passbands, enabling detailed investigations of different layers within the solar atmosphere.

Pinholes Virtually Eliminated

AstroSolar™ is nearly free from pinholes due to its double-sided coating, a design that significantly reduces the chance of overlapping pinholes—a common problem even with high-end glass filters. While pinholes may still occur, they are extremely rare, appearing in only 1 out of 10,000 cases in optical density 2.5.

Certified for Maximum Eye Safety

The Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been rigorously tested and approved for eye safety by Germany's National Bureau of Standards (PTB). It is also CE-certified under EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). Every step of its production is carefully monitored, and coatings are continuously inspected to ensure consistent quality and maximum eye protection.

Durable and Lightweight Construction

The Baader AstroSolar™ filter is built with a lightweight yet durable frame made from 18-gauge aluminum, powder-coated white for added strength. Heavy-duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews ensure a secure and stable fit during use.
