The Bresser Science MTL 201 is a specialized reflected light microscope designed for examining non-transparent surfaces at high magnifications (50x-800x). The MTL 201 features a large stage (250 mm x 230 mm) that can be coarsely adjusted using a quick adjustment lever and finely adjusted with transverse and longitudinal knobs. The focuser includes coaxial coarse and fine adjustments (approximately 70 µm per full turn). Illumination is provided by a halogen lamp (20 W) with an adjustable dimmer, delivering light through the objective from above onto the sample. The microscope includes a centerable field diaphragm, multiple filters (yellow, green, blue, ground glass), and a polarizer/analyzer combination. Its fivefold nosepiece is equipped with planachromatic DIN objectives (5x, 10x, 20x, 40x, 80x).

The trinocular head features two 30° inclined ocular tubes for comfortable viewing and a photo tube for digital imaging with optional accessories such as a PC eyepiece. The wide-field WF10x eyepieces include diopter and eye relief adjustments. Additional optional accessories include WF16x eyepieces, dividing eyepieces (WF10x), and a planachromatic 50x objective.
