Description

The NexStar Evolution features a built-in WLAN module, allowing wireless control of the telescope via an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. Simply use the free Celestron SkyPortal app, which includes planetarium software and SkyAlign technology. For those who prefer traditional controls, the classic NexStar hand controller is also included.

Lithium-Ion Battery
Eliminate the need for external power supplies or cable clutter with the built-in, replaceable lithium-ion battery. It powers the telescope for up to 10 hours and includes a USB port for charging your smartphone. A power pack is provided to recharge the battery conveniently.

Ergonomic Design
Celestron’s innovative design, first introduced with CPC telescopes, has been refined for the NexStar Evolution series. This includes a powerful drive system and user-friendly features:

  • A stable tripod with an accessory tray that remains attached when folding.

  • A flat mount surface with rubber armoring, ideal for keeping eyepieces handy.

  • A discreet red light to help locate accessories in the dark.

  • Convenient handles on the fork arm and base for easy transport and setup.

Celestron EdgeHD Telescope: Corrected Images with Sharp Edges
The EdgeHD ("Edge High Definition") is an advanced aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope offering distortion-free, sharp images across the entire field of view. Unlike other "coma-free" designs that only correct coma off-axis, EdgeHD telescopes also correct field curvature, making them true astrographs.

Many optical systems marketed as "astrographs" deliver sharp stars but along a curved image plane, resulting in noticeable field curvature when used with cameras. This creates aberrations and larger star sizes at the edges of images, especially with larger sensors. The EdgeHD system eliminates both coma and field curvature, producing pinpoint stars even at the edges of large imaging sensors. This improves resolution and magnitude limits compared to competing systems.

The XLT multi-coating further enhances performance, providing brighter images compared to similar systems on the market.

The EdgeHD telescope also features upgraded mechanics:

  • Mirror Clamps: Securely hold the primary mirror without exerting pressure on optical elements, ensuring image stability even during long exposures.

  • Air Vents: Located behind the primary mirror for rapid cooling while preventing dust entry through an integrated air filter system.

StarSense AutoAlign: Revolutionary Alignment Technology
StarSense AutoAlign technology simplifies telescope alignment like never before. Originally developed for Celestron's SkyProdigy series, this system retrofits almost any Celestron GoTo telescope for fast and hassle-free alignment without requiring GPS, coordinates, or prior knowledge of astronomy.

With StarSense, alignment is fully automated and completed within three minutes:

  1. Turn on the telescope.

  2. Wait as StarSense takes three wide-angle photos of the sky using its camera module (included).

  3. The system analyzes these images using professional plate-solving technology to determine its position relative to celestial objects automatically.

The StarSense module works with most Celestron GoTo alt-azimuth and equatorial mounts from the last decade. For equatorial mounts, polar alignment is still required but can be completed quickly using Celestron's AllStar Polar Alignment procedure, which uses any visible star for alignment instead of requiring Polaris.

Additional benefits include improved positioning accuracy through T-point mapping technology. Users can map up to 10 stars across the sky to achieve exceptional pointing precision.
