Description

The Daystar Instruments QUARK is an innovative, all-in-one Hydrogen Alpha filter system designed to simplify solar observation. Combining a telecentric barlow, adapters, snouts, and a hydrogen alpha filter into a single compact assembly, the QUARK allows users to convert their refractor telescopes into narrowband solar telescopes with ease. It is available in two models: Prominence for observing detailed solar prominences and Chromosphere for capturing surface details. This design optimization ensures high-quality optics at an affordable price.

Features and Benefits:

  • Ease of Use: Suitable for refractors with focal ratios from F/4 to F/9. Simply insert the QUARK into your diagonal, add an eyepiece, and start observing.

  • Full Disk Viewing: Achievable on refractors up to 450mm focal length.

  • Energy Rejection Filter (ERF): Recommended for telescopes with apertures of 80mm or larger or for prolonged solar tracking. Options include UV/IR cut filters or full-aperture red/yellow glass ERFs.

  • Advanced Optics: Contains a custom 4.2X telecentric barlow lens optimized for the Hydrogen Alpha wavelength, offering superior field flatness.

  • Optimized Design: Lightweight and compact, eliminating unnecessary components and costs. Includes baffles for increased contrast and AR coatings optimized for the 656nm wavelength.

Prominence vs Chromosphere Models:

  • Prominence Model: Bandpass of 0.6 - 0.8 Å, ideal for observing bright, high-contrast solar prominences.

  • Chromosphere Model: Bandpass of 0.3 - 0.5 Å, optimized for detailed surface observations while still showing broader prominences.

Specifications:

  • Connection (to the telescope): 1.25"

  • Power consumption: 1500 mA

  • Power supply: 5V

  • Extension of focal length: 4.3X

  • Half-value width: 0.3 - 0.5 Å

  • Equipment: Includes power pack

  • Type: Solar Filters

  • Type of build: Line filter

  • Series: Quark

The Daystar Instruments QUARK offers a groundbreaking approach to solar observation, providing both versatility and precision in a single device. Its compact design ensures ease of use while maintaining the high optical standards expected from Daystar Instruments.
