In vitro fertilisation of animals

In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process used in animal breeding, particularly for horses and cattle. The procedure involves the following steps:

1. Insemination of the animal

2. Flushing the potential embryo from the uterus

3. Separating embryos from the flush-water using a stereo microscope

4. Implanting some embryos in surrogate mothers

5. Freezing remaining embryos in liquid nitrogen for later use
