Vixen's Polarie Star Tracker is one of the most popular camera mounts available for astrophotography. Unlike traditional mounts designed for telescopes, this device directly holds a camera and tracks the rotation of the night sky, making it ideal for capturing long-exposure images of celestial objects. Precise alignment with the celestial pole is essential for achieving optimal results, even with such a compact mount. The Polarie includes a peephole for basic polar alignment and an option to attach a polar finder scope. However, the peephole is only suitable for short exposures.

Using Vixen's optional polar finder scope requires removing the camera, which disrupts the weight distribution and can cause slight movement, making precise alignment more challenging. Additionally, it becomes impossible to monitor the orientation during photography. Lacerta's Off-Axis Mount (OAH-1) offers an elegant solution to this problem by allowing polar alignment with the polar finder scope while keeping the camera mounted securely in place. This ensures stability and eliminates unnecessary adjustments during setup.
