The Lunt LS130MT is a specialized telescope designed for observing the Sun in H-alpha light, featuring a bandwidth of less than 0.7 Angstrom. It comes equipped with a B1200 blocking filter for safe and detailed solar viewing.

One of the standout features of this telescope is its modular design. The H-alpha filter can be easily removed, allowing the telescope to be used for night-time astronomy as well. Its versatility extends further: you can add a Herschel wedge for white-light solar observation or replace the H-alpha filter with a Ca-K module for different solar views. Both options are available as recommended accessories.

To support its multi-purpose use, the LS130MT is built with a premium lens system. It uses a triplet apochromatic lens with an ED (extra-low dispersion) element, ensuring excellent color correction. The f/7 focal ratio strikes a balance between speed and high magnification, making it ideal for observing the Moon and planets in addition to solar viewing. This makes the LS130MT a true solar system telescope.

For precise focusing, the telescope is fitted with a Feather Touch focuser from Starlight Instruments. This high-quality focuser accepts 2” accessories such as diagonal mirrors or camera adapters. The integrated blocking filter, essential for solar safety, is built into the supplied deflecting optics. It allows for the use of 1.25” eyepieces or direct camera attachment via a T2 thread.

The PT pressure tuner offers fine adjustment of the Etalon filter. By altering the air pressure inside a dedicated chamber, the refractive index changes, allowing for precise and effortless tuning of the H-alpha spectral line. This system ensures a uniform image, free from central obstructions, and provides long-lasting, reliable performance.

The B1200 blocking filter is ideal for visual solar observation. It also supports solar photography with cameras that have small sensor chips, such as typical planetary cameras. For cameras with medium or large sensors, a telescope with a larger blocking filter is recommended to ensure proper sensor illumination.
