The LS40THa is a dedicated solar telescope designed for observing the Sun in H-alpha light. It features a 40mm aperture with no central obstruction and a focal length of 400mm.

Observing the Sun in H-alpha is the most striking way to experience solar activity. Through this wavelength, you can see solar prominences at the edge of the Sun, filaments, flares, and many other fascinating features on the solar surface. The telescope uses an Etalon filter with mechanical tilt-tuning, providing a bandwidth of less than 0.7 Angstrom for detailed views.

The block filter is integrated into the deflection optics, which is essential for safe solar observation. This filter accepts eyepieces or cameras with 1.25-inch sockets and also offers a T2 thread for direct camera connection. The blocking filter is only necessary for solar observation and is not required for night-time use. The focuser can accommodate a zenith mirror or other accessories with 2-inch sockets.
