Zoom Range

The SMZ-171 provides a 6.7:1 zoom ratio, giving a standard magnification range from 7.5x to 50x. The parfocal optical system means you do not need to refocus while zooming. Auxiliary objectives and eyepieces are available to extend the total magnification range from 2.25X up to 200X.

Auxiliary Objectives

With a standard working distance of 110 mm, the microscope allows easy sample manipulation at all magnifications. At the lowest zoom setting with 10X eyepieces, the maximum field diameter is 30.7 mm.

Eyepieces

The standard widefield 10x/23 mm eyepieces are designed for comfort, even for users who wear glasses, and include individual diopter adjustments of +/- 5 dpt. Other magnification options and measurement reticules are also available.

3-D Imaging

The Greenough optical system provides completely separated optical paths, delivering high-quality, distortion-free 3D images. The system achieves a resolving power of up to 460 lp/mm when used with a 2x auxiliary objective.

Working Distance

The standard working distance is 110 mm, which can be extended up to 301 mm with auxiliary objectives. Higher total magnification can be achieved by combining objectives less than 1X with high-magnification eyepieces.

Optical Heads

Available in binocular or trinocular versions with a 45° viewing angle, 10X eyepieces, and a built-in 1X objective. The interpupillary distance is adjustable from 48 mm to 75 mm. For specialized setups, a 60° binocular head is also available. All optics are treated against fungus, making the microscope suitable for humid environments.

Modular Configuration

The SMZ-171 supports a modular system, allowing users to select from classic pole stands, arm stands, or industrial boom stands for larger samples. ESD versions are also available for use in electrostatic-sensitive environments.

Illumination

A wide range of illumination options can be combined with the SMZ-171, including ring lights for shadow-free imaging and cold light sources with light guides for surface structure visualization.

Digital Documentation

The SMZ-171 can be paired with Moticam digital cameras to create a complete documentation and analysis workstation. The trinocular version supports different camera adapters for various camera chip sizes.
