Nikon C-LHGFI HG lamp, Intensilight (65377)

The Nikon C-LHGFI HG lamp is a key component of the Intensilight precentered fiber illuminator system, designed for advanced fluorescence microscopy. This ultrahigh-pressure 130W mercury lamp provides stable, high-intensity illumination, making it ideal for multi-color fluorescence imaging and time-lapse observations. The precentered design means the lamp does not require manual alignment or focusing, even after replacement, ensuring uniform brightness and reducing microscope downtime.

Description

The Nikon C-LHGFI HG lamp is a key component of the Intensilight precentered fiber illuminator system, designed for advanced fluorescence microscopy. This ultrahigh-pressure 130W mercury lamp provides stable, high-intensity illumination, making it ideal for multi-color fluorescence imaging and time-lapse observations. The precentered design means the lamp does not require manual alignment or focusing, even after replacement, ensuring uniform brightness and reducing microscope downtime. The lamp’s long average lifespan of 2000 hours significantly lowers replacement frequency and operational costs compared to conventional mercury lamps.

Purpose and Features:

  • Ultrahigh-pressure 130W mercury lamp for high-intensity, uniform fluorescence illumination

  • Precentered lamp design eliminates the need for manual centering or focusing, providing consistent brightness and easy maintenance

  • Long lamp life of approximately 2000 hours, about ten times longer than standard mercury lamps

  • Enhanced brightness in the green spectrum (450–500 nm), making it especially suitable for observing green fluorescence such as FITC and GFP

  • Compatible with dedicated optical fibers (1.5 m or 3.0 m), allowing the light source to be placed away from the microscope to reduce heat and electrical noise near sensitive samples

  • Six-step neutral density (ND) filter for adjustable light intensity: 100%, 50%, 25%, 12%, 6%, and 3% transmittance

  • Shutter function allows light to be blocked without turning off the power, minimizing photobleaching during multi-stained specimen observation

  • DC lighting ensures constant, flicker-free illumination, which is critical for imaging consistency

  • Built-in safety features, including interlocks that automatically shut off the lamp if the cover is open or the fiber is disconnected, and overheat protection

Operation:

  • The lamp is used in both manual (C-HGFI) and motorized (C-HGFIE) Intensilight systems

  • Light intensity and shutter can be controlled manually or remotely, including integration with Nikon’s NIS-Elements imaging software for automated workflows

Applications:

  • Multi-color fluorescence imaging

  • Long-term time-lapse observation of live cells

  • Automated imaging in research and industrial laboratories

This lamp is essential for users needing reliable, high-intensity, and stable illumination for demanding fluorescence microscopy applications, supporting both routine and advanced imaging tasks.
