Vixen Maksutov telescope MC 260/3000 VMC260L OTA (62853)

The VMC260L is a Field Maksutov Cassegrain telescope designed with special correction lenses in front of the secondary mirror. This allows the secondary mirror to be spherically ground, which is more cost-effective and precise than parabolic or hyperbolic grinding. The correction lenses also eliminate the need for a front correction plate, resulting in a compact and relatively lightweight tube. The positioning of the eyepiece and accessories is convenient, and the absence of a Schmidt plate means the telescope reaches ambient temperature quickly and is less prone to condensation.

The VMC260L combines the advantages of both Maksutov and Schmidt-Cassegrain designs. The secondary mirror is supported by four thin struts, only 1.3 mm thick, which do not negatively affect astrophotography image quality. With its high focal length, this telescope is excellent for observing the Moon and planets, while its large aperture provides enough light for serious deep sky observation and astrophotography.

The dielectrically coated mirror ensures high brightness and sharp definition. By using an optional reducer, the focal ratio can be lowered to f/7, which shortens exposure times and increases the field of view for photography. No further corrector is needed for this design.

A Vixen-style dovetail bar and a carrying handle are included. The handle also serves as a camera mounting bracket for wide-field star photography.
