Vixen Wireless Unit for EQ Mounts (82934)

The Vixen WiFi adapter for EQ mounts allows you to control your Vixen mount using a smartphone or tablet. With the free STAR BOOK Wireless app, you can navigate the night sky without any cables. This app transforms your smartphone or tablet into a control device for your equatorial mount. The response delay, often considered the main disadvantage of wireless connections, has been minimized to a level comparable with wired solutions.

Lower Power Consumption

Power consumption is reduced by up to 20% compared to conventional controllers with LCD monitors. This improvement allows for longer observation sessions than with traditional wired controllers like the STAR BOOK TEN.

Operation Similar to STAR BOOK TEN

The STAR BOOK Wireless app is structured similarly to the STAR BOOK TEN controller. Depending on the selected star map, it contains data for up to 259,000 celestial objects. You can select an object from the list and activate the GoTo function, which automatically moves the mount to center the target in the telescope's field of view. All the popular features of the STAR BOOK TEN are included.

User-Friendly Operation

When observing through the telescope, you can operate the mount by swiping on the star chart in the app. Since there are no physical buttons, you simply slide your finger across the screen to control the mount with ease.

Comprehensive Astronomical Database

The app includes data on easily observable celestial bodies such as Messier objects, NGC objects, and IC objects, as well as the sun, moon, planets, comets, and dwarf planets.

High-Precision Alignment

Aligning the mount with one or two stars already provides accurate positioning. Aligning with three or more stars allows for very high precision, even for high magnifications. Targets are approached accurately and appear centered in the telescope’s field of view. Alignment data is saved and remains available even after the device is powered off. If you do not move the telescope after observing, you can use the same alignment for your next session.

Customizable Settings

As with the STAR BOOK TEN control unit, the app offers a variety of individual settings, including gear backlash compensation, red night mode, autoguider support, adjustable GoTo speed, and variable LED brightness. You can also adjust the timing of the objective tube reversal (meridian flip). This allows you to prevent the telescope tube from flipping even if the object moves south during tracking.

Important Note

This wireless unit is not compatible with old SX mounts that use the older blue Star Book controller.
