The Antlia HB-OIII filter features an almost complete optical density (OD4) coating at key wavelengths, with a cut-off range of 300-1000 nm. This design meets the spectral requirements of astronomical cameras and offers enhanced suppression of the infrared range. Compared to standard visual filters, which typically have an OD3 cut-off from 350-750 nm, this filter more effectively darkens the sky background, making it easier to observe and photograph deep sky objects such as nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies.

Description

Compared to standard visual filters, which typically have an OD3 cut-off from 350-750 nm, this filter more effectively darkens the sky background, making it easier to observe and photograph deep sky objects such as nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies.

With the HB-OIII filter, faint celestial objects become much more visible against a darkened background, providing nearly photographic views of targets like the Veil, Dumbbell, and Orion nebulae—even under light-polluted skies. For visual observation, large-aperture telescopes are recommended due to the limited sensitivity of the human eye at night.
