Description

This off-axis guider provides a straightforward way to autoguide your telescope for astrophotography. Instead of needing a separate guidescope, a guiding camera tracks stars that are redirected from the telescope’s optical path near the sensor of your imaging camera.

Main Advantages

  • Guide stars are found in the same region of the sky as your target object, so you are tracking stars right next to your chosen field. This method helps eliminate errors caused by differential flexure and guidescope misalignment.

  • The QHYOAG Series attaches directly to your camera or filter wheel using six screws, which guarantees a strong, parallel, and secure mechanical connection.

  • Various standard and optional QHY accessories can be combined with the OAG for different setup options.

L Pro Version Details

  • The L Pro version is designed for cameras with large sensors, such as the QHY461PH, QHY600, and other large optical systems. This model uses M62 and M54 thread connections.

  • The M Pro version comes with M54x0.75 threads.

Setup and Adjustment

  • Before use, remove the protective film from the prism.

  • The OAG body includes six 3mm holes for attaching various adapter rings or the QHYCFW3 filter wheel.

  • A prism position adjustment locking knob is located on the side. Loosen this knob to adjust the prism’s position. Ensure the prism does not block the camera’s sensor; if any obstruction appears in your images, move the prism further from the chip.

  • The OAG features a helical focusing seat for precise focus adjustments. A locking knob is provided on the focusing seat. Loosen this knob before adjusting the focus, and lock it again after the adjustment. Do not force the focusing ring when it is locked to avoid damaging the internal mechanism. When locked, the focusing ring may still move slightly left or right—this is normal and will not affect focus.

Using with a Guiding Camera

  • The distance from the prism’s surface to the guiding camera should match the distance from the prism’s surface to the imaging CCD.

  • If the guiding camera does not reach focus at the limit, you may remove the front end of the camera to reduce the distance further.
