Description
This off-axis guider provides a simple way to autoguide your telescope for astrophotography. Instead of using a separate guidescope, a guiding camera tracks stars that are redirected from the telescope’s optical path near the sensor of the imaging camera.
Main Advantages
-
Guide stars are found in the area of the sky close to your imaging camera, so you are tracking stars right next to your target. This helps prevent errors caused by differential flexure and misalignment of a separate guidescope.
-
The QHYOAG Series attaches directly to the camera or filter wheel using six screws, providing a strong, parallel, and reliable mechanical connection.
-
Both standard and optional QHY accessories can be combined with the guider for flexible setup options.
Compatibility and Versions
-
The M Pro version is equipped with M54x0.75 threads.
-
The L Pro version is designed for larger sensors and large optical systems, offering M62 and M54 thread connections.
Setup and Adjustments
-
Before using, remove the protective film from the prism.
-
The guider body has six 3mm holes for connecting to various adapter rings or the QHYCFW3 filter wheel.
-
There is a locking knob on the side for prism position adjustment. Loosen the knob to move the prism and adjust its position so it does not block the sensor. If you notice any part of the image is blocked, move the prism further away from the sensor.
-
A helical focusing seat allows precise focus adjustments. There is a locking knob on the focusing seat: release this knob to adjust the focus, and lock it after adjustment. Do not force the focusing ring when it is locked to avoid internal damage. After locking, the focusing ring may move slightly left or right, which is normal and will not affect the focus.
Guiding Camera Use
-
Make sure the distance from the prism surface to the guiding camera matches the distance from the prism to the imaging sensor. If focus cannot be reached, the front end of the guiding camera can be removed to shorten the distance further.
