Description

The FX2 is a new, versatile tool for cinematic storytelling and a powerful entry point into professional filmmaking. As a full-frame Cinema Line camera that inherits the visual philosophy of Sony’s flagship VENICE series, it combines a compact body, intuitive user interface, strong expandability, and proven reliability. It is ideal for solo operators and now includes enhanced still-image functions that support modern, hybrid filmmaking workflows.

Professional Cinematic Look
The FX2 is designed to deliver the look and control that professional filmmakers demand. Its full-frame sensor is paired with cinematic tools inspired by the VENICE 2, giving you all the creative options you need to shape light, color, and motion. From shallow depth of field to flexible log workflows, the camera is built to help you craft images with a truly cinematic feel.

Full-Frame Cinematic Expression
The FX2 features a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS full-frame sensor with approximately 33 megapixels and is powered by the BIONZ XR image processing engine and an advanced AI processing unit. This combination delivers high sensitivity, wide dynamic latitude, and detailed 4K imagery with beautiful bokeh, making it ideal for ambitious cinematic projects.

Outstanding Image Quality and Editing Flexibility
With more than 15 stops of dynamic range when recording in S-Log3, the FX2 captures smooth gradations and preserves detail even in high-contrast scenes. Base ISO for S-Log3 can be set to either 800 or 4000, and support for S-Gamut3 and S-Gamut3.Cine color gamuts ensures broad compatibility when working with multiple cameras and in complex post-production pipelines. The result is footage that is flexible, robust, and efficient to grade.

Log Recording Modes for Production Control
For creative and technical flexibility, the camera offers three Log recording modes: Flexible ISO, Cine EI, and Cine EI Quick. Cine EI, widely used on high-end productions, is ideal for work that requires extensive grading. Depending on the shooting environment, you can choose a base ISO of 800 or 4000 to maintain maximum latitude, then fine-tune tonal ranges in post-production to achieve your intended cinematic look.

Multiple Recording Formats for Versatile Workflows
The FX2 uses 7K oversampling with full pixel readout and no pixel binning when shooting full-frame 4K (QFHD 3840 x 2160). It also supports 4K 60p (59.94p) recording in Super 35mm mode. With 10-bit depth, 4:2:2 color sampling, XAVC HS (H.265/HEVC), XAVC S (H.264), and XAVC S-I All-Intra formats, including DCI 4K (4096 x 2160), it delivers high image quality tailored to both broadcast and cinematic workflows.

Import and Use up to 16 User LUTs
You can import your own LUTs and apply them to the LCD and EVF during shooting or playback. Up to 16 custom LUT files can be loaded from memory cards or via Sony’s Creators’ Cloud and selected as needed. The LUT used during recording can also be embedded as metadata, streamlining color management and grading in post-production.

Create Visual Moods In-Camera
Picture Profile presets make it easy to adjust color and tonal response directly in the camera. These include S-Cinetone, which is designed for pleasing skin tones and a filmic look straight out of camera. Imported user LUTs can be registered as PPLUT 1–4 and applied while recording. In addition, 12 Creative Look profiles (including FL2 and FL3) provide a wide range of aesthetic starting points for different genres and visual moods.
