The Canon EOS R6 Mark III is designed as a true hybrid tool for creators who work seriously with both photos and video. It combines a higher-resolution full-frame sensor, powerful processing, advanced autofocus, refined stabilisation and modern connectivity in a body built for fast, reliable work. A new 32.5 MP sensor pairs with the DIGIC X processor to deliver 7K recording, up to 40 fps stills, improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with Register People Priority, up to 8.5 stops of stabilisation, and dual card support for both CFexpress Type B and SD media.

32.5 MP full-frame sensor and DIGIC X processing

• The 32.5 MP full-frame CMOS sensor offers around 34% more resolution than the previous R6 generation, giving you more detail, better print size potential and greater freedom to crop while retaining quality.

• Paired with the DIGIC X processor, the camera delivers excellent image quality, reduced noise and a wide usable ISO range.

• The processing power also drives the advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, handles fast continuous shooting, high-quality video and the in-body stabilisation system.

Borrowed from higher-end models, the DIGIC X processor is optimised for hybrid use:

• Supports continuous shooting up to 40 fps with a silent electronic shutter, or up to 12 fps with the mechanical shutter, with AF and AE evaluated before each frame.

• A Pre-Continuous Shooting function can capture up to 20 additional frames just before you fully press the shutter, helping you catch fleeting moments.

SCN shooting modes

For new photographers or anyone who wants an in-camera look without heavy editing, the R6 Mark III includes a wide selection of scene modes that automatically adjust exposure and other settings:

• Still photo SCN modes include: Portrait, Smooth Skin Portrait, Group Photo, Landscape, Panoramic Shot, Sports, Kids, Panning, Close-Up, Food, Night Portrait, Handheld Night Scene, HDR Backlight Control and Silent Shutter.

• For video, you can use presets such as Smooth Skin Movie, Close-Up Demos, Movie IS and HDR settings.

7K video recording and advanced movie features

The R6 Mark III is also a powerful video camera aimed at creators who need cinema-style features in a stills body:

• Uses a sensor similar to that in Canon’s cinema line to record 7K internally at up to 60p in 12-bit Canon RAW Light.

• When recording to a compatible external device, you can capture 7K up to 30p in ProRes RAW.

• Open Gate 3:2 7K 30p recording is available in 10-bit MP4 or 12-bit RAW. This is especially useful for social media content because you can crop different vertical or square formats (9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 4:5) from a single master.

• DCI 4K and UHD 4K can both be recorded at up to 119.8p, giving you 5× slow-motion playback on a 23.98p timeline.

• At DCI 2K and Full HD resolutions, frame rates up to 179.8p are possible. Audio is recorded for all frame rates and resolutions except when shooting in dedicated Slow & Fast (S&F) mode.

• The new S&F mode, accessible from the Mode dial, lets you set resolution, frame rate, playback speed and compression specifically for slow- and fast-motion clips.

• 4K FINE mode uses oversampling for especially sharp, detailed DCI 4K and UHD 4K footage in XF AVC S format.

Look control, LUTs and colour management

For creators who want precise control over the image:

• Canon Log 2 can be used for maximum dynamic range, giving more than 15 stops of latitude for colour grading and exposure adjustments.

• Custom LUTs can be loaded and applied in-camera via the Apply Look function. You can register 17-grid or 33-grid .cube LUTs and save them as Custom Picture profiles to apply directly while recording. LUTs can also be transferred through the Canon Camera Connect app.

• Fourteen Colour Filters are available to apply colour and tonal effects straight to JPEG photos or MP4 videos in-camera.

• A dedicated Custom Picture menu provides direct access to Canon Log 2, Canon Log 3, HLG, PQ, Canon 709, BT.709, Colour Filters and other adjustable parameters for fine-tuning your look.

Additional video tools

• Pressing the Magnify button while recording temporarily enlarges the image so you can confirm focus without stopping the take.

• Pre-Recording can buffer and start the clip up to 5 seconds before you press the record button so you do not miss unpredictable moments.

• Auto Level works with the IBIS system to automatically keep the horizon level.

• Focus breathing correction (when used with compatible lenses) reduces visible focal length shifts while racking focus.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with Register People Priority

The R6 Mark III inherits an upgraded Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system developed from the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II:

• This phase-detection AF offers sophisticated subject detection for People, Animals and Vehicles. Once detected, the camera can lock on and track subjects smoothly, whether they are moving towards or away from the camera.

• Register People Priority appears in a 6-series body for the first time. You can photograph a person and register them so the camera prioritises focus on that individual over others in the frame — ideal in crowded scenes. Up to 10 people can be registered.

• Four new AF area options expand your control, and you can now cancel subject detection and tracking when needed. AF settings can be registered and recalled for quick switching between different focusing behaviours.

• Custom buttons can be configured to recall a preset focus position, emulating the focus recall switches on Canon super-telephoto lenses.

• Movie Servo AF uses an algorithm from Canon’s cinema cameras (C400 and C80) to produce smooth, natural focus transitions that look more like controlled manual pulls.

8.5-stop sensor-shift image stabilisation

• The updated in-body image stabiliser compensates for up to 8.5 stops of shake at the centre of the frame and around 7.5 stops at the edges (depending on lens and settings).

• This is especially valuable when shooting handheld in low light or when you want steadier footage without a gimbal.

• With RF lenses that include optical IS, Coordinated IS combines sensor-shift and lens-based stabilisation for even more effective compensation.

• Movie Digital IS can be added on top of optical and sensor-shift stabilisation to further reduce shake when moving with the camera.

Body design, EVF and screen

• The high-resolution 0.5" OLED EVF has 3.69 million dots and 0.76× magnification, offering a bright, detailed view. OVF View Assist simulates the look and high dynamic range of an optical viewfinder for a more natural appearance.

• The 3.0" rear touchscreen LCD has 1.62 million dots and a vari-angle design, ideal for vlogging, self-shooting, high-angle or low-angle compositions.

• Video-oriented monitoring tools include zebra displays, false colour and a waveform monitor, similar to those found on Canon Cinema EOS cameras.

Reliable, intuitive handling and storage
