The Canon EOS R7 combines performance, portability and the advantages of the EOS R mirrorless system in an APS-C body. With a 32.5MP CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processor, this compact camera delivers up to 30 fps continuous shooting for sports and wildlife, powerful Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for fast subject tracking, and 4K video up to 60p, including oversampled 4K 30p from a 7K area, plus Full HD up to 120 fps for smooth slow motion.

32.5MP APS-C sensor and DIGIC X processing

APS-C in the EOS R system

The 32.5MP APS-C CMOS sensor balances resolution, speed and low-light performance, making it ideal for both stills and video. As one of the first APS-C sensors in the EOS R lineup, it provides a large 7K capture area for oversampling 4K footage, resulting in higher sharpness, reduced moiré and cleaner detail.

DIGIC X image processor

Borrowed from Canon’s professional models, the DIGIC X processor enables:

• Up to 30 fps continuous shooting with the silent electronic shutter

• Up to 15 fps continuous shooting with the mechanical shutter

Both modes offer AF and AE metering before each frame for consistency. The processor also supports a broad ISO range of 100–32,000 (expandable to 51,200), helping the camera perform in difficult lighting.

UHD 4K video and HDR options

The EOS R7 is well equipped for video production:

• Internal UHD 4K 60p recording using the full sensor width

• Oversampled UHD 4K 30p from a 7K capture area for improved clarity and reduced noise

• Full HD 1080 recording at up to 120p for slow-motion playback

The camera supports:

Autofocus and image stabilisation

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II

The advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, taken from the EOS R3, offers:

• 651 automatic AF points covering the entire frame

• Fast, responsive and precise phase-detection focusing

It includes intelligent subject detection and tracking for:

• Vehicles

Once a subject is detected, the camera can lock on and maintain focus even during high-speed bursts. AF remains effective in very low light, focusing down to approximately −5 EV.

In-body image stabiliser (IBIS)

• 5-axis in-body stabilisation compensates for up to 7 stops of camera shake when shooting handheld.

• When paired with Canon RF lenses featuring optical IS, Coordinated IS can provide up to 8 stops of stabilisation, depending on the lens.

• This system helps produce sharper stills in low light and smoother video when shooting without a gimbal.
