Description

The FUJIFILM X-T50 continues the X-T Series tradition with a look that closely resembles a classic film camera. The compact body weighs approximately 438 g (0.96 lb), including battery and memory card. With its clean lines, refined styling, and comfortable ergonomics, it is easy to carry and enjoyable to use wherever your creativity takes you.

Rounded body shape

The X-T50 introduces a new rounded body design. Although slightly larger than the X-T30 II, it still feels compact in hand and offers improved handling. The thumb grip extends more smoothly than on previous models, giving a more secure and satisfying hold on the camera.

Film Simulation dial

A new Film Simulation dial is positioned on the top plate of the X-T50. Selecting a look is now as simple as turning the dial. You can choose from 20 Film Simulation modes, including the latest REALA ACE. These profiles draw on Fujifilm’s color science developed since 1934.

Optimized for creativity

Dial-based operation

The X-T50 places key controls on the top plate: shutter speed, exposure compensation, and the new Film Simulation dial. Combined with the aperture ring found on many XF lenses, this layout lets you see and adjust settings even with the camera switched off, so you can stay focused on creating images rather than navigating menus.

Electronic viewfinder

The camera is equipped with a 2.36-million-dot electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 0.62x magnification. Specially designed optical elements provide a sharp, high-definition live view. An adjustable diopter ensures comfortable viewing for different users.

Tilting LCD

The X-T50 uses a tilting rear LCD screen, which is especially useful when shooting from waist level or other unconventional angles. The central viewfinder and tilting screen keep the lens, camera, and photographer aligned along the same optical axis, making composing images more natural and intuitive.

Cutting-edge image quality

The X-T50 combines a fifth-generation 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor, the X-Processor 5 image engine, and up to 7.0 stops of in-body image stabilization (IBIS). Together, these deliver some of the highest image quality yet seen in the X Series, all in a small and lightweight body.

Improved core features

Compared with the X-T30 II, the X-T50 offers improved autofocus and ISO performance, providing better response and flexibility in demanding conditions.

Subject detection autofocus

The X-T50 uses the processing power of X-Processor 5 for subject-detection autofocus. Built with deep-learning AI technology, it can recognize and track a wide range of subjects, including:

  • Animals

  • Birds

  • Cars

  • Motorcycles and bicycles

  • Airplanes

  • Trains

  • Insects

  • Drones

For best results, set Subject Detection to BIRD when photographing insects, and to AIRPLANE for detecting drones.

Updated AF algorithm

An improved autofocus prediction algorithm helps maintain reliable focus on subjects that move continuously. The benefits are most noticeable when using Zone AF and in low-contrast scenes.

ISO 125 as standard sensitivity

The X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor has a more efficient pixel structure, allowing ISO 125 to be used as a native sensitivity setting. On the X-T30 II, ISO 125 was only available as an extended option, but on the X-T50 you can use it directly without extension.

Signal-to-noise and low-light performance

The 40.2MP sensor, combined with an enhanced image-processing algorithm, increases resolution while maintaining a strong signal-to-noise ratio. This results in high levels of detail with controlled noise, even at higher sensitivities.

Expanding creative possibilities

By combining the X-T50’s Film Simulation modes with additional creative tools, you can refine your images in-camera. Add analog-style grain, adjust color depth, clarity, and sharpness, and control highlight and shadow tones to shape the overall mood of your photographs. The camera is designed to support a fully personalized photographic style.

Film Simulation

The 20 Film Simulation modes, including the new REALA ACE, are backed by around 90 years of Fujifilm color expertise. They digitally reproduce the look of traditional film stocks, enabling classic colors and tones or more experimental styles directly from the camera.

Image manipulation tools

White balance

Auto White Balance can be fine-tuned using three modes:

  • Auto

  • White Priority

  • Ambience Priority

White Priority aims to keep whites neutral, even under warm incandescent light. Ambience Priority preserves the character of the existing light, usually resulting in warmer tones under the same conditions. You can also choose from multiple presets, custom settings, and Kelvin-based color temperature selection.

White balance modes

  • Automatic scene recognition: Auto

  • Custom: Custom 1–3 with selectable size/area

Color temperature selection

  • Adjustable from 2500K to 10,000K

Presets

  • Daylight

  • Shade

  • Fluorescent (Daylight)

  • Fluorescent (Warm White)

  • Fluorescent (Cool White)

  • Incandescent

  • Underwater

Multiple exposure

You can combine up to nine frames in-camera using Additive, Average, Comparative Bright, or Comparative Dark blending. Each exposure can use different settings, including Film Simulation, to create complex, layered images without external editing.

AUTO mode

In AUTO mode, the camera automatically selects appropriate exposure settings for the scene. It also uses automatic subject detection to find and track your main subject, keeping it in focus without manual switching of detection modes. AUTO mode is available for both stills and video, simplifying operation in fast-changing situations.

Video functionality

The X-T50 offers advanced video performance in a small, lightweight body:

  • Internal recording up to 6.2K at 30p in 4:2:2 10-bit

  • 4K/60p recording

  • High-speed Full HD up to 240p for slow-motion footage

These options provide flexibility for both casual and more serious video work.

Improved subject tracking in video

In AF-C mode with Wide/Tracking AF, you can tap a subject on the rear LCD to begin tracking. The camera will keep that subject in focus, even if multiple objects appear in the frame or move across it.

F-Log2 support

Alongside F-Log, the X-T50 also supports F-Log2, which records a wider dynamic range of more than 13 stops (based on Fujifilm internal testing). This extra range increases flexibility for color grading and post-production work.

Connectivity

Frame.io Camera to Cloud

The X-T50 supports native Frame.io Camera to Cloud integration. When connected wirelessly to an active internet connection, you can authenticate to Frame.io and upload stills and video files directly as you shoot, enabling fast collaboration and review.

FUJIFILM XApp support

The camera works with FUJIFILM XApp for smartphones, allowing quick image transfer and extended remote control functions. You can move files between the camera and phone, adjust settings, and trigger the camera remotely from the app.
