Nikon Z7II + FTZ II Adapter Kit (SKU N-VOA070K002)

The Nikon Z 7II keeps the familiar look and handling of the original Z 7, while significantly boosting its speed, processing power and versatility. It features a high-resolution 45.7 MP FX-format back-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor and dual EXPEED 6 image processors, making it a great choice for photographers who demand extremely fine detail. The sensor does not use an optical low-pass filter, allowing it to capture maximum detail. Its native sensitivity goes down to ISO 64 for rich, clean images with excellent dynamic range. Thanks to the updated processing, the camera can now shoot continuously at up to 10 fps with a deeper buffer, making it more capable for action.

Description

UHD 4K video recording is supported up to 60p, with the option to record externally in 10-bit using N-Log or HLG (HDR). The sensor’s 493-point phase-detection AF system now includes Eye-Detect AF in Wide-Area AF modes and during video recording, and it can focus in low light down to −4.5 EV. A 5-axis in-body Vibration Reduction system further reduces the impact of camera shake with any lens.

The Z 7II maintains the robust and ergonomic body design of its predecessor, but now incorporates a dual card slot system: one CFexpress Type B slot and one SD UHS-II slot for flexible storage options. A 3.6M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3.2" 2.1M-dot tilting touchscreen LCD provide versatile options for composing and reviewing images. Built-in SnapBridge wireless connectivity supports remote control, easy image sharing and over-the-air firmware updates.

Firmware version 1.10 adds UHD 4K recording at 60p and 50p, enables raw video output to Blackmagic Design Video Assist external recorders, and improves eye-detection performance in Auto-Area AF and Wide-Area AF modes.

Second Generation Z Enhancements

Nikon has refined the Z 7 platform to deliver more performance and flexibility, while keeping the core strengths of the original camera:

  • Dual EXPEED 6 image processors increase buffer depth, enable 10 fps continuous shooting and reduce viewfinder blackout.

  • Updated AF now includes Eye and Face Detection for humans and animals in Wide-Area AF, for both stills and video.

  • Timed long exposures are now possible for up to 900 seconds (15 minutes) without needing an external remote.

  • Dual card slots (one CFexpress Type B and one SD UHS-II) allow overflow, backup and separate file storage configurations.

  • USB Type-C supports in-camera charging and continuous power for longer shooting sessions.

  • Focus ring rotation direction on compatible lenses can be reversed to match your preference.

  • External HDR (HLG) recording produces HDR-ready video for immediate playback, and N-Log is available for flexible color grading in post-production.

  • Optional ProRes RAW upgrade (via service) allows ProRes RAW output to compatible Atomos recorders, with uncompressed 12-bit raw footage available over HDMI for advanced grading.

  • SnapBridge connectivity can also be used to update firmware, removing the need for memory card–based updates.

  • Creative features include Multiple Exposure, 20 different Picture Control options, in-camera time-lapse recording and Focus Shift shooting (up to 300 frames) for focus stacking.

  • Compatible with the optional MB-N11 Power Battery Pack for extended battery life and improved handling.

45.7 MP FX-Format BSI CMOS Sensor and Dual EXPEED 6 Processors

A 45.7 MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor delivers very high resolution, excellent low-light performance and fast readout to support continuous shooting, video and time-lapse work:

  • Back-illuminated design reduces noise at higher ISOs and provides clean output up to a native ISO 25,600, as well as smooth, detailed images at ISO 64.

  • The sensor design omits the conventional optical low-pass filter, allowing maximum sharpness and resolution.

  • Two EXPEED 6 processors provide fast overall performance, including continuous shooting up to 10 fps for up to about 50 consecutive frames (depending on settings).

UHD 4K Video Recording

The Z 7II is designed as a hybrid stills and video camera:

  • UHD 4K (3840 × 2160) recording up to 60p.

  • Full HD 1080p (1920 × 1080) recording up to 120p for smooth slow-motion footage.

  • Video can be recorded internally to memory cards or output uncompressed over HDMI to an external recorder.

Advanced video tools include:

  • N-Log gamma for flat, high dynamic-range footage that is ideal for color grading.

  • HLG (HDR) recording for HDR-ready video output.

  • 10-bit video output via HDMI for higher-quality color and tonal detail with external recorders.

  • Electronic VR (e-VR) to aid stability during handheld video shooting.

  • Focus Peaking to assist with accurate manual focusing.

  • Zebra Stripes to highlight overexposed areas in the frame.

Audio options:

  • Built-in stereo microphone for quick recording.

  • 3.5 mm microphone input for external mics and more control over audio quality.

  • 3.5 mm headphone output for real-time audio monitoring.

Firmware version 1.10 adds UHD 4K 60p/50p recording, raw video output support for Blackmagic Design Video Assist and improved eye-detection AF in Auto-Area and Wide-Area AF.

493-Point Phase-Detect AF System

  • 493 phase-detection AF points are built into the sensor, covering about 90% of the frame both vertically and horizontally.

  • The wide coverage allows fast, precise focusing and reliable subject tracking almost to the edge of the frame, in both stills and video.

  • Hybrid AF in video automatically switches between phase-detection and contrast-detection to maintain smooth, stable focus transitions.

  • NIKKOR Z lenses are designed for quiet, accurate AF performance, which is especially useful for video.

In-Body Vibration Reduction (VR)

  • 5-axis sensor-shift VR compensates for camera shake by up to approximately 5 stops, regardless of which Z-mount lens is attached.

  • When F-mount lenses are used with the optional FTZ adapter, 3-axis stabilization is available, improving sharpness with adapted lenses as well.

Body Design and Connectivity

  • 3.2" 2.1M-dot tilting touchscreen LCD: bright and sharp for live view and playback, with touch control for menus, focus and image review.

  • 3.6M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder: 0.80× magnification, NIKKOR optics for a clear, detailed image, plus fluorine coating on the eyepiece for easier cleaning.

  • Top-panel dot-matrix OLED: low-power information display showing key settings at a glance.

  • Dual card slots:

    • Slot 1: CFexpress Type B / XQD

    • Slot 2: SD/SDHC/SDXC (UHS-II)
Support for overflow, backup or separate storage of different file types (such as RAW and JPEG or stills and video).

  • Magnesium alloy body with dust and weather resistance for reliable use in harsh environments.

  • Deep, ergonomic grip and well-balanced body shape for comfortable long-term shooting, with anti-slip surfaces and a joystick for quick AF point and menu navigation.

  • Built-in SnapBridge connectivity (Bluetooth Low Energy and Wi-Fi) allows:

    • Seamless transfer of images (often in smaller sizes for quick sharing).

    • Remote shooting and live view from a smart device.

    • Convenient wireless firmware updates.
