Description
Every cinema technology has its own characteristics. The aim of the Matrix R2 Sled is to combine the strengths of different systems to create something new and highly capable:
DJI RONIN 2 + Matrix Sled = Matrix R2
The Matrix R2 is a professional sled designed to work seamlessly with the DJI Ronin 2. It features an ultra-smooth 5-axis gimbal, a fully CNC-machined, completely tool-free 40 mm (1.57") telescopic carbon fiber post with an adjustable length from 20.86" to 37" (530 to 940 mm).
A unique, tiltable Ronin 2 battery plate allows you to use Ronin 2 batteries as standard sled batteries. All power routing for the gimbal is handled internally—no external cables are needed to power your preferred gimbal.
Exclusive Monitor Stabilization System
Your monitor remains level horizontally, regardless of the post angle.
Thanks to the Ronin 2 yaw locker, you can avoid the typical noise associated with PAN lock mode. The dedicated Ronin 2 plate adapter allows you to securely mount the gimbal to the sled post.
The modular design of the Matrix sled range allows you to re-position the micrometric head, usually used for the camera, to the lower section of the sled for optimal overall balance.
A practical advantage is that the Matrix R2 can be reconfigured back into a standard sled with full professional functionality. The micrometric non-floating top stage with automatic locking can be returned to its original upper position in just a few seconds.
A V-Lock battery plate with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes can be mounted in the standard upper position, above the Ronin 2 battery plate adapter.
The horizontal monitor system can also be removed, allowing you to attach a standard monitor mount. The lower section can be fitted with a C-battery, similar to a PRO or Extreme sled configuration.
Arm X1
The Arm X1 is designed, engineered, manufactured, and hand-built entirely in Italy. Each component is CNC-milled in-house from raw stock to final form. Of the many available aluminum alloys, only AL7075 Ergal—one of the highest-performing—has been chosen. It delivers carbon-steel-like strength at a fraction of the weight, and is widely used in high-performance automotive, aerospace, and robotics applications.
This special alloy allows the Arm X1 to remain extremely slim while maintaining impressive load capacity, making it one of the thinnest professional stabilizer arms on the market.
XTune Dynamic Response System
The Arm X1 incorporates a robust arm post system designed to be rigid and highly configurable. From an engineering standpoint, the ideal mechanical response is “critically damped,” which depends on both the load and the spring force.
The patented XTune system lets you tune the arm’s behavior to your exact preference, acting as a selective multiplier of the installed spring force. You can set the arm to feel ultra-smooth or very responsive, depending on the shot.
On busy sets, adapting the arm to new payloads can be time-consuming—especially when setups change dramatically. By using compression springs and the unique lever geometry of XTune, the springs are safely housed inside canisters with plenty of space around them, reducing the risk of catching clothes, cables, or fingers.
The arm uses an industry-standard mating block and is designed to work equally well for right- or left-handed operators, as well as with front-mount or back-mount vests.
Despite its compact dimensions, the Arm X1 can lift 32 kg (70.4 lb) and supports a maximum payload of 34 kg (74.9 lb). The boom range is 728 mm (28.5"), and it comfortably handles loads from 6 to 34 kg (13.2 to 74.9 lb), making it suitable for current and future camera setups.
Since March 2021, all Arm X1 units are equipped with DynaSpring patent-pending technology. This system dynamically adjusts the spring response along the entire boom range to deliver exceptionally soft, smooth operation.
A custom resin transport case with military-grade specifications (DEF STAN 81-41, STANAG 4280, ATA300, IP67) is included for safe travel and storage.
Vest Lite
Vest Lite is built around a proven ergonomic design using premium materials. It is developed to offer excellent comfort and a precise fit across a wide range of operator body types.
For female operators, the adjustable thoracic plate can be repositioned on the fly, allowing the vest to better conform to the shape of the body. Each plate is individually adjustable, ensuring maximum comfort. The design of the hip pad and hip support provides both stability and full freedom of leg movement.
Thoracic pads can be stacked to further refine fit and comfort. The vest is built around an industry-standard mating block made from solid Ergal T7075 aluminum. A ratchet system enables progressive tightening and a secure fit. Changing from regular to goofy orientation is quick and simple.
A black and yellow handle on the back offers a secure grip for assistants and can serve as a safety handle in emergency situations. All textile parts can be removed and washed, and the 100% cotton lining ensures durability and comfort.
Each structural part of Vest Lite is milled from solid aluminum, then shot-peened and hard-anodized for maximum durability and minimal weight. Extensive testing has been carried out to guarantee both strength and lightness.
With a weight of just 2.7–2.9 kg (around 6 lb), Vest Lite is among the lightest professional stabilizer vests available. A padded backpack is included for protected transport.
Hard Case
The included trolley case is based on the Explorer Cases 7745 and has been modified to securely house a SmartCAM arm (X-Lite or X1) and a SmartCAM sled from the Matrix series.
