Various Mounting Options for the Volt Brain

The best performance from the Volt system is achieved when it is paired with a gimbal designed to integrate it natively. For this reason, the Matrix Sled Chimera is built around the M2 gimbal, ensuring the most seamless stabilization and the highest operational precision.

Dedicated or Shared Power Solutions
Brushless gimbals demand consistent power, and insufficient voltage can lead to vibrations or unexpected behavior. Matrix sleds include a dedicated power line that eliminates these issues, ensuring clean, stable motor performance. When possible, SmartSystem recommends using the dedicated C-battery power path for optimal results.

The Chimera version is designed as an advanced tool for cinema-level productions. It combines the full capabilities of the Matrix Sled Extreme with the stabilization advantages offered by the Steadicam Volt system.

As with the Extreme sled, heavier cameras can be precisely balanced using the included counterweights. The backlash-compensated micrometric non-floating head provides exceptional camera stability.

The LCD monitor holder is mounted on separate rods to maximize stiffness and allow flexible positioning. Its innovative battery management system, based on dual V-Lock or 3-Stud battery slots plus an additional C-battery slot, supports both +12 V and 24 V operation. The 1.575" (40 mm) carbon fiber telescopic center post ensures high rigidity, bringing the sled’s weight to 5.5 kg without counterweights.
