This 20×/0.40 objective delivers a resolution limit of 0.69 µm. Chromatic aberrations are corrected for blue and red wavelengths, spherical aberration is corrected for green, and field curvature is corrected across 90% of the field of view diameter, ensuring sharp and uniform image quality.

The objective is designed for infinity-corrected optical systems and features a parfocal distance of 60 mm. When combined with a 10×/22 mm eyepiece, it provides a 1.1 mm field of view diameter. The optical design is optimized for use with specimens mounted under 0.17 mm cover slips, allowing accurate focusing and consistent results.

When using a 20× objective, the microscope’s useful magnification range extends from 200× to 400×. Magnifications below this range do not allow fine structural details to be resolved, while higher magnifications do not reveal additional image detail and are therefore considered optically ineffective. For optimal performance with the 20×/0.40 objective, eyepieces with magnifications between 10× and 20× are recommended.

Plan achromatic optics ensure that the image remains in focus both at the center and at the edges of the field of view, resulting in negligible distortion. This makes the objective well suited for digital imaging and for use with wide-field eyepieces offering a 22 mm field of view.
