Description
The MAGUS Bio DH260 is an everyday microscope designed in its standard configuration for examining biological samples in transmitted light using the brightfield method. With optional components, it can also support fluorescence or polarized light, as well as darkfield and phase contrast techniques. The microscope features a binocular head with a built-in camera, a coded revolving nosepiece that maintains user-selected illumination levels when magnification changes, and an LCD screen that displays key operating parameters.
The binocular head is equipped with two eyepiece tubes and an integrated digital camera. The eyepiece tubes are built for infinity-corrected optics, and their position can be adjusted by rotating them to match the user’s height. The kit includes 10×/22 mm eyepieces with diopter adjustment and long eye relief, making them comfortable for users wearing glasses. Flat rubber eyecups are included to help protect the optics from scuffs and scratches.
The built-in digital camera uses an 8 MP sensor and captures images in 4K resolution (3840 × 2160), supporting detailed sample observation. It performs best with 4× and 10× objectives. For video, it records at 30 fps at maximum resolution, producing smooth footage with natural motion and no visible frame gaps. The camera supports photo and video documentation, on-screen display, and optical system focusing. A Wi-Fi interface is included for transferring data to external devices.
The revolving nosepiece provides five objective slots and is mounted in an inward-facing orientation, placing the active objective closer to the user while directing the remaining objectives away. This layout leaves more free space in front of the microscope for convenient sample handling. The microscope includes four plan achromatic objectives of different magnifications, and the fifth slot can be filled with an optional objective as needed. The parfocal height is 60 mm. A dedicated slot above the nosepiece is intended for inserting an analyzer when using polarization accessories.
The coded nosepiece allows the user to set illumination intensity once for each objective. When objectives are changed, the microscope automatically restores the stored brightness level. This improves comfort and efficiency because objectives transmit different light levels, and manual readjustment is otherwise required with every magnification change. Automatic brightness matching also reduces eye strain caused by sudden shifts in illumination.
Focusing is controlled with coaxial coarse and fine adjustment knobs. Coarse focus is operated from the left side, while fine focus controls are available on both sides. The right-side fine focus knob includes finger grooves for improved grip. Coarse focus tension can be adjusted using a dedicated ring on the left side.
The stage is designed without a positioning rack, improving ergonomics. Specimen movement is driven by a belt mechanism, providing smooth travel across the stage surface. The specimen holder is secured with two screws but can be removed quickly for manual scanning. A long stage control handle allows the user to operate the stage comfortably with hands resting on the table.
An Abbe condenser beneath the stage controls illumination using an iris diaphragm. For easier setup, the condenser includes markings that correspond to objective magnifications, along with a pointer on the adjustment ring. Aligning the pointer with the marking for the active objective helps achieve clear, high-contrast imaging. For darkfield or phase contrast work, the appropriate sliders are inserted into the condenser slot.
Illumination is provided by a 3 W LED with a stable color temperature. The LED is rated for up to 50,000 hours of operation. The microscope supports Köhler illumination, ensuring even lighting across the field of view, maximizing objective resolution, and reducing the visibility of dust or other artifacts.
A built-in LCD screen on the microscope base displays key parameters such as selected magnification, illuminator brightness, and operating mode, and it also allows the user to set an auto-shutdown timer. Settings are adjusted using two control knobs.
The microscope is designed for comfortable daily use. It includes a dedicated carrying handle, and the power cord is routed in a concealed manner for safer, tidier operation and storage. Functionality can be expanded with compatible accessories such as additional eyepieces, contrast or polarization components, and calibration slides for measurement tasks.
