Description
The MAGUS Bio 240B educational microscope is designed for professional training and instruction. It is used to study transparent and translucent biological specimens in transmitted light using the brightfield method. The microscope features a coded four-position revolving nosepiece with intelligent lighting, which automatically adjusts brightness for each objective. Its compact size and ergonomic design make it easy to move, store, and use in teaching environments.
The microscope head accommodates two eyepieces and uses an infinity optical system. Both eyepiece tubes can rotate 360°, allowing the user to adjust eye relief to a comfortable height. The standard комплект includes two 10×/20 mm eyepieces. Rubber eyecups are also included for users who wear glasses, acting as a protective buffer between eyeglasses and eyepieces while preventing scratches or damage to the optics. Each tube is fitted with a diopter adjustment ring, enabling independent focus correction for each eye—especially useful for users with different visual acuity. If needed, a digital camera can be installed by removing one eyepiece and placing the camera in the tube.
The revolving nosepiece holds four objectives and is oriented toward the interior, so the active objective is directly in front of the user while the remaining objectives are positioned farther away. This layout provides a large, unobstructed working area above the stage. Normally, changing objectives causes noticeable brightness shifts that strain the eyes. To prevent this, the microscope uses an intelligent lighting control system: the user sets the brightness once for each objective, and the system automatically restores the correct illumination level whenever objectives are changed. This reduces eye fatigue and saves time during frequent magnification changes.
The microscope is equipped with coaxial coarse and fine focusing knobs, located low on both sides of the stand for comfortable operation with hands resting on the table. A coarse focus lock on the left side helps quickly stabilize the image after switching objectives. On the right side, a tension adjustment ring allows the user to set the resistance of coarse focusing according to preference.
The mechanical stage uses a belt-drive mechanism, ensuring smooth and gentle specimen movement under the objectives.
An important feature is the Abbe condenser, which is factory-centered and fixed at the correct vertical position. This eliminates the need for user adjustment and prevents accidental misalignment—an advantage in educational settings. The condenser has a numerical aperture of 1.25. The iris diaphragm is adjusted using a handle aligned with color-coded objective magnification markings. Setting the handle to match the active objective produces optimal contrast and improved specimen visibility.
Illumination is provided by a 3 W LED operating in transmitted light. The color temperature is adjustable from 3000 K to 7000 K, allowing lighting to be matched to the specimen and observation conditions. The LED has an estimated service life of 50,000 hours.
Another convenient feature is the LCD screen, which displays key operating parameters such as current objective magnification, illumination color temperature, and operating mode.
The microscope is easy to transport using the integrated side handles. The power adapter and power cord are hidden in the rear of the body, resulting in a clean appearance, improved safety, and easier storage.
