This compact star tracker is designed as a powerful yet ultra-portable solution for DSLR cameras, weighing just 720 grams while smoothly tracking camera and lens combinations of up to 4 kg. Its impressive performance is made possible by modern strain wave gear technology, an area in which iOptron pioneered industry-standard applications for astronomical mounts. That experience is now built into this remarkably small device.

The HST provides four selectable tracking speeds to suit different imaging needs: sidereal for deep-sky objects, lunar for the Moon, solar for the Sun, and half-speed for creative wide-field shots that include terrestrial foreground elements.

A quiet DC stepper motor combined with the strain wave gear drive ensures smooth and silent operation. Power is supplied by an integrated lithium-polymer battery that can be recharged using the included USB-C cable. For extended imaging sessions, especially on cold nights or while traveling, the mount can also be powered by an external 5-volt power bank.

The CNC-milled metal housing offers both durability and refined aesthetics. A Vixen-style dovetail rail is built directly into the body, allowing the tracker to be mounted on a polar wedge with a compatible clamp. Alternatively, it can be attached using a standard 3/8-inch tripod connection.

A dedicated side mount supports an optional polar finder scope or the iPolar electronic polar finder, further enhancing alignment accuracy.
