The Vortex Crossfire 1400 is a laser rangefinder equipped with HD optics, designed for hunters and sport shooters who require fast and accurate distance measurement. The device allows users to determine the distance to a target at ranges of up to 1280 meters, making it suitable for long-range observation and shooting.

The Crossfire 1400 offers three measurement modes—NORMAL, FIRST, and LAST—as well as two distance calculation methods: LOS (Line of Sight) and HCD (Horizontal Component Distance). These options allow the user to take precise measurements even in terrain with varying slopes.

This rangefinder features a compact and ultra-lightweight design, weighing only 136 grams. Its small size allows it to be comfortably carried around the neck or attached to a belt using the included spring clip. The housing is made from durable plastic with a non-slip texture, providing a secure and comfortable grip during use.

The sealed construction protects the device from water, dust, and dirt, allowing it to operate reliably even in demanding outdoor conditions.

The Crossfire 1400 delivers a clear and bright image thanks to the HD optical system and XR multi-layer coatings. Anti-reflective coatings are applied to all air-to-glass surfaces to improve light transmission and maintain image brightness even in low-light environments. The HD optics provide excellent resolution, reduce chromatic aberration, deliver accurate color reproduction, and maintain sharpness across the entire field of view.

To protect the lenses from scratches and dirt, they are coated with the ultra-durable ArmourTek protective layer.

Measurement results are displayed on a TOLED screen designed for optimal visibility in low-light conditions. The red backlight offers strong contrast, making it easier to measure darker targets. The 5× magnification optics provide a wide field of view, allowing comfortable observation and easier tracking of moving objects.

One of the main advantages of the Crossfire 1400 is its long measurement range of up to 1280 meters for highly reflective targets, combined with a measurement accuracy of approximately 0.9 meters. The device features a 21 mm objective lens with a 7° angular field of view and a minimum measurement distance of just 4.5 meters.

The rangefinder uses HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) angle compensation technology, allowing accurate distance calculation when shooting in angled terrain.

Operation is simple and intuitive thanks to a minimal control layout. The device uses only two buttons: one for measuring distance and another for accessing the menu. Distance can be displayed in either meters or yards.

The rangefinder is powered by a CR2 battery, which provides up to 1000 individual measurements. To conserve power, the device automatically shuts off after 20 seconds of inactivity. Battery replacement is quick and tool-free thanks to a convenient flip-open battery compartment.

When the battery level drops below 25%, the display shows a notification to alert the user. The brightness of the display backlight can also be adjusted across five different levels.

Measurement Modes

NORMAL: Displays the distance to the actual point of aim. This is the default mode and works well for most general measurements.

FIRST: Calculates the distance to the closest object, which is useful when measuring a small target located in front of a background such as trees.

LAST: Measures the distance to the farthest object, making it ideal when the target is positioned behind other obstacles such as rocks or trees.

LOS (Line of Sight): Designed for long-range shooting, especially beyond 457 meters (500 yards) in terrain with slopes greater than 15 degrees. This mode measures the true line-of-sight distance without ballistic correction. Many ballistic calculators require this actual distance to determine bullet drop and windage adjustments.

HCD (Horizontal Component Distance): The primary mode used for hunting and archery. It calculates the horizontal distance to a target on the same plane as the shooter, automatically compensating for the shooting angle so that no additional corrections are needed.
