The Kandao Obsidian R is a professional 3D VR camera designed for capturing immersive 360° video and panoramic content in ultra-high resolution. The camera records stereoscopic VR footage at up to 8K × 8K resolution at 30 fps and 4K × 4K resolution at 60 fps, making it suitable for professional virtual reality productions, immersive experiences, documentaries, and high-quality panoramic photography.

The Obsidian R uses six synchronized imaging modules equipped with high-quality fisheye lenses, achieving pixel-level synchronization for accurate 360° image stitching. The Obsidian R is designed for creators who need high-quality stereoscopic VR content with accurate synchronization between multiple cameras. The six imaging modules work together to capture complete 360° scenes with consistent exposure and color balance.

Each of the six 185° fisheye lenses records independently to its own microSD card, while the synchronized sensor system ensures precise alignment between all image streams. The camera uses advanced stitching algorithms to combine the footage into seamless panoramic video.

The camera captures immersive 3D VR content at resolutions up to 8K × 8K and supports high-frame-rate 4K × 4K recording at 60 fps, providing smooth motion for interactive virtual reality applications.

The Kandao Obsidian R features six Sony 12 MP back-illuminated CMOS sensors, delivering detailed images with strong low-light performance and wide dynamic range.

Video recording supports 10-bit dynamic range performance up to 10 stops, while still images benefit from up to 12 stops of dynamic range. Manual ISO adjustment from 100 to 3200 provides additional control over exposure in different environments.

The camera supports multiple recording formats, including MOV video files, JPG images, and DNG RAW photographs. Users can record in monoscopic or stereoscopic equirectangular and cubemap projection formats.
