The device is intended for use with intrinsically safe headsets connected via a 4-pin QR4 (Nexus) socket and includes Microchip Protection for OEM Hytera verification, preserving the integrity of intrinsically safe equipment.

The product is certified under IECEx with explosion classification IECEx EESF 23.0019X. At present, the SM24N2P-Ex does not have ATEX approval; however, IECEx certification is accepted for intrinsically safe equipment in many European countries.
