The encoders are mounted on your telescope's axes and transmit signals that allow the system to determine the telescope's orientation accurately.
 
The GSO Dobsonian Encoder Installation Kit is specifically designed for Dobsonian telescopes with spring tensioners on altitude bearings, such as those manufactured by GSO (Apertura, Bintel, Bresser, Omegon, Zhumell) and Orion (Classic Dobsonians like XT4.5, XT6/8/10). This kit ensures seamless integration and precise tracking.
