Description
GSO Dobson 16" Truss Deluxe Telescope - 406/1800 M-CRF
Experience the universe like never before with the GSO Dobson 16" Truss Deluxe 406/1800 M-CRF Telescope. This high-performance telescope features a premium main mirror with a 406 mm rotary paraboloid shape and a focal length of 1800 mm (f/4.45). Crafted by GSO, a leader in optical quality, this telescope offers exceptional image clarity, limited only by the nature of light itself. Its openwork design provides outstanding imaging capabilities, perfect for exploring a variety of astronomical objects including solar system bodies, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies.
Enhanced Design for Optimal Functionality
Building on the traditional Dobsonian telescope concept, the GSO Deluxe series incorporates several design improvements to enhance functionality and ease of use.
Observation Capabilities
The GSO Dobson 16" Truss Deluxe is a versatile instrument ideal for advanced visual observations. It excels in all conditions but truly shines under dark, rural skies, delivering exceptional viewing experiences.
With its impressive 16-inch (over 40 cm) main mirror, this telescope offers amateur astronomers the best possible visual observations. Key observation possibilities include:
- Detailed views of lunar craters, with shadows adding depth and realism.
- Observation of the phases of Mercury and Venus, along with Venus's belts.
- Clear visibility of Martian ice caps (using red, orange, or yellow filters is recommended).
- Detailed views of Jupiter's atmospheric stripes, the Great Red Spot, and its moons.
- Observation of Saturn's rings and features like the Cassini and Encke divisions.
- Clear views of Uranus and Neptune's atmospheres.
- Tracking of asteroids and observation of comets, making it an ideal "comet finder."
- Viewing of hundreds of double, multiple, and variable stars.
- Exploration of thousands of Deep Sky objects, including those in the Messier, NGC, IC, and Caldwell catalogs.
Tube Construction
The main mirror cell is made from metal with 18 optimized support points, ensuring stable collimation over time.
Dobson Mount
The telescope's weight and dimensions are manageable, and it can fit in most Kombi and SUV vehicles. Its truss design makes it as easy to transport as a 30 cm Newtonian telescope with a closed tube. The mount allows for movement along two axes: azimuth (level) and height (vertical), with superior azimuth roller bearings for smooth movement and precise positioning. The height axis features a new bearing system, and pressure adjustment knobs help maintain balance when changing eyepieces.
Eyepiece Focuser
The telescope is equipped with a high-quality Crayford microfocus focuser with a 1:10 gear ratio, allowing for precise focusing even at high magnifications. It supports both 2" and 1.25" eyepieces.
Advantages of the Crayford Focuser:
- Smoother and more precise movement for focusing.
- A brass clamp ring ensures reliable eyepiece fixation and prevents damage.
Main Mirror Cooling
A built-in 12V fan accelerates the temperature equalization between the mirror and the environment.
