SkyWatcher MAK 102 is an optical tube in the Maksutov - Cassegrain system with a diameter of 102 mm and a focal length of 1300 mm.

The tube works well as a short balcony planetary spotter, providing very high contrast when observing bright and compact objects (the Moon, planets, bright clusters and galaxies), as it is virtually free of chromatic aberration and is insensitive to atmospheric instability. In addition, it is a good choice for those looking for a very portable telescope with not inconsiderable observing capabilities, one that will be a companion for many trips under dark country skies, while taking up very little space in the trunk of a car.

The Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system is one of the most highly regarded optical designs, widely appreciated for its mobility, ease of use and multifunctionality. It is an excellent choice for both astronomical observation, earth observation and aircraft observation. The excellent optics provide exceptionally sharp images across the entire field of view. The telescope consists of a meniscus correction plate, a primary mirror and a secondary mirror located on the inner part of the meniscus. These telescopes have reduced coma and exhibit only residual chromatic aberration, producing very sharp and clear images. The great advantage of Maksutov telescopes is their compact and compact design and light weight. Due to their considerable focal length and small light intensity, they are ideal for planetary observations. T2 thread in the eyepiece focuser The eyepiece focuser is equipped with a T2 thread (M42x0.75), so all you need to connect your DSLR is a ring from T2 to the bayonet of your camera (Nikon, Canon EOS, Sony α, Olympus E, Olympus 4/3, Pentax K). This way we can use the telescope to take pictures of the moon and planets or use it as a 1300mm f/12.7 telephoto lens.
