Sky-Watcher BK1201EQ3-2 Telescope

Large achromatic refractor designed for more demanding lovers of the night sky. The diameter of the lens of this optical instrument is 120mm, the focal length is 1000mm hence the tube of this refractor is quite large in size and massive. This refractor is suspended on a heavy EQ5 parallactic mount quite suitable for astrophotography when equipped with a set of drives with GoTo system. Standard with the telescope is a 2" standard angle cap along with a reduction to 1.25".

Optical system The BK1201EQ5 telescope is a typical in terms of design large refractor constructed as a classic achromatic doublet. With a focal length of 1000mm and a diameter of 120mm, this telescope has a moderate aperture of f/8.3. The lenses of the lens have been coated with anti-glare coatings for improved constrast and image brightness. The set includes 10mm and 25mm Kellner system eyepieces and a 2" angle cap.

Mounting The telescope tube was mounted on a stable EQ3-2 parallactic mount. This is a relatively massive structure, sufficient for photographing the sky with telescopes up to 150mm in diameter, but at the same time light enough to consider such equipment quite mobile. The mount is equipped with precise micromotions, moreover, it is possible to connect quite advanced drives such as SynScan GoTo (so-called Upgrade Kit EQ3-2). The EQ3-2 mount allows you to attach telescopes equipped with a Vixen-standard Dovetail mount rail.

Eyepiece Extractor The BK1206 is equipped with a 2" Rack&Pinion type eyepiece extractor (rack and pinion extractor). This focuser is terminated by a mounting ring with screws for clamping 2" accessories. There is a standard Sky-Watcher finder mount on the body of the focuser. This focuser is compatible with Sky-Watcher focuser drives.

Astronomical observations

• Solar System: Small formations on the surface of the Moon - but not smaller than 1.5 km, caps on Mars, even more details in the belts of Jupiter, numerous comets, brighter asteroids.
• Stars: About 1.85 million stars across the sky, with brightnesses up to about 12-12.5 magnitudes, double and multiple stars angularly separated by more than 1".
• Nebular objects: Hundreds of star clusters, nebulae and galaxies (in many visible spiral structure), many objects from NGC and IC catalogs. Considerable detail in nebulae and star clusters. Spiral arms in galaxies not visible.
