Sky-Watcher HAC125 Astrograph OTA

The Sky-Watcher Honders Advanced Catadioptric 125 (HAC125) is a specialized optical tube designed specifically for astrophotographers. This telescope is Sky-Watcher’s first model dedicated entirely to astrophotography, making it ideal for capturing wide-field images with astronomical cameras.

The innovative Honders Advanced Catadioptric design features an aspherical primary mirror with high reflectivity, paired with a multi-coated corrector to minimize optical aberrations. This combination delivers sharp, bright, and precise wide-field images, making it perfect for capturing celestial objects with exceptional detail.

With an ultra-fast focal ratio of F/2, the HAC125 offers exceptional light-gathering capabilities, allowing for short exposure times. Its 250mm focal length and 125mm diameter enable detailed imaging of galaxies, nebulae, and star fields in just a few seconds of exposure, even without autoguiding. Compared to a standard F/6.3 telescope, the HAC125 requires about ten times less exposure time. A 60-second exposure with the HAC125 captures as much light as a 10-minute exposure with an F/6.3 scope, resulting in bright images with a high signal-to-noise ratio.

The large 125mm aperture, combined with a corrected field of view of 16mm, ensures detailed and sharp shots of extensive celestial objects. Focusing is simple, achieved by rotating the camera mount located at the center of the correcting lens. The removable lens hood helps facilitate the connection between the tube and the camera, while also serving as an anti-fog device.

The HAC125 comes equipped with a Vixen/CG5-style dovetail bar and sturdy tube rings, ensuring stability and preventing flexing. Additionally, the tube features a Mini Vixen finder mount for accurate centering of the field of view.
