Description

The StarQuest Series
The StarQuest series telescopes are lightweight, portable grab-and-go instruments that seamlessly combine high-quality Sky-Watcher optics with a precision-crafted equatorial mount. The mount features a precision-engineered 122-tooth gear system on both axes, offering exceptional stability with a maximum load capacity of 3 kg. Once aligned with Polaris, the equatorial mount enables effortless tracking of celestial objects across the night sky via smooth slow-motion control knobs.

Optical System
This telescope employs a Newtonian reflector design, making it particularly suited for observing nebulae and deep-sky objects due to its impressive light-gathering capabilities. Its standout feature is a large 130 mm parabolic mirror, which is the primary element responsible for its superior performance. This mirror collects approximately 345 times more light than the human eye, allowing observations of objects up to the 13th magnitude, compared to the naked-eye limit of 6th magnitude.

The optical resolution permits the separation of stars with angular distances greater than 1.1". Additionally, the telescope comes equipped with a Red Dot Finder for easy alignment. For optimal high-magnification views of bright solar system objects, an eyepiece with a focal length of 5-6 mm is recommended.

Astronomical Observations

1. The Solar System

  • Lunar surface features larger than 2.2 km.
  • Sunspots and their structures.
  • All planets, including:
    • Mercury and Venus: Phases visible.
    • Mars: Surface details and polar caps during opposition.
    • Jupiter: Equatorial belts, Galilean moons, the Great Red Spot, and moon shadows under favorable conditions.
    • Saturn: Rings, Titan, and faint moons, with the Cassini Division visible in good conditions.
    • Uranus and Neptune: Tiny disks.
  • Observing asteroid movements against star backgrounds.
  • Bright comet observations.

2. Stars

  • Approx. 1.9 million stars up to 13th magnitude.
  • Double and multiple stars with angular separations over 1.1".
  • Recognizable colors of bright stars.

3. Nebulae and Deep-Sky Objects

  • All Messier catalog objects.
  • Hundreds of globular clusters, with individual stars visible.
  • Numerous open clusters with structural details.
  • Dozens of nebulae, such as M42, with visible details.
  • Dozens of galaxies with recognizable shapes and positions.
  • Structural details of bright planetary nebulae.
