The PegasusAstro NYX-88 Harmonic Geared Mount is a compact, travel-friendly equatorial mount designed for astrophotographers and observers who need high performance and portability. Weighing just 5 kg, it supports a payload of up to 14 kg without requiring counterweights, making it ideal for grab-and-go setups or remote observing. The mount uses advanced strain wave (harmonic) gears on both the right ascension and declination axes, providing smooth, backlash-free tracking and high torque, even at maximum payload. Its CNC-machined aluminum alloy construction ensures durability, while the electronic brake on the RA axis prevents backsliding when powered off.
The NYX-88 offers versatile operation in either equatorial or altazimuth mode, which can be switched easily via PC, mobile app, or hand-controller. Connectivity is streamlined with built-in WiFi and USB2 ports, and the mount is compatible with ASCOM, INDI, and LX200 protocols. The universal saddle plate accepts both Vixen and Losmandy dovetails, and an integrated ST-4 port supports autoguiding. The mount operates on a standard 12V DC supply, with low power consumption during tracking and slewing. Safety features include reverse voltage protection and safety limit stops during slewing or tracking.
