1.0-Type Exmor RS CMOS Sensor
The NX800 uses an approximately 14.0 megapixel (effective) 1.0-type Exmor RS CMOS sensor with a stacked structure. Back-illuminated pixels sit above integrated signal processing circuits, enabling faster readout speeds and improved low-light performance by capturing more light.

BIONZ XR Image Processing
The latest BIONZ XR processor, integrated with the sensor, provides higher frame rates, faster autofocus, improved Auto Tracing White Balance, and better noise reduction. It enables 5K oversampling with full-pixel readout and condenses this data into sharp, detailed 4K (3840 x 2160) 60p video.

Enhanced White Balance Accuracy
Auto Tracing White Balance (ATW) has been improved alongside BIONZ XR and the AI unit. The camera can better maintain accurate white balance, even in complex lighting situations such as when the subject is partially in shadow.

Advanced AI Processing for Next-Generation Autofocus
A dedicated AI Processing Unit works with BIONZ XR to recognize human subjects with high precision, using deep-learning data based on human form and posture. Fast Hybrid AF covers approximately 81% of the frame, supporting Subject Recognition AF and Real-time Tracking. The camera can maintain focus on subjects almost anywhere in the image area.

Auto Framing
With Auto Framing enabled, the camera automatically tracks a recognised human subject and adjusts the framing to keep them prominently positioned. The final footage can look as if a camera operator is actively reframing during the shot, even though the camera remains stationary. This is particularly useful for interviews and one-person productions.

*In Auto Framing, 4K footage is cropped, resulting in a narrower angle of view.

4K 120 fps for Dramatic Slow Motion
Thanks to the fast readout of the Exmor RS sensor, the NX800 can record 4K high frame rate footage at up to 120 fps and Full HD at up to 240 fps. This allows for 4x slow motion at 30p or 5x slow motion at 24p in 4K. High-speed AF continues to operate, helping you keep subjects in focus. Slow & Quick Motion is supported up to 4K 120 fps and FHD 240 fps.

20x Optical Zoom G Lens
A high-quality 20x G Lens covers everything from 24 mm wide angle to 480 mm telephoto (35 mm full-frame equivalent), making it suitable for interviews, events, sports, and more. Sony’s Clear Image Zoom extends this to 30x in 4K and 40x in Full HD. The lens offers a maximum aperture of F2.8 at the wide end and F4.5 at the telephoto end, with fast, smooth, and quiet zoom performance.

Advanced Image Stabilisation
Built-in optical and electronic stabilisation work together in Active Mode to reduce camera shake and help produce smooth, stable handheld footage.

*Active Mode applies a slight image crop and is not available when recording at 120 (100) fps or higher, including S&Q.

Built-In Electronic Variable ND Filter
Adjust the Electronic Variable ND Filter from 1/4 to 1/128 ND using a simple dial. Alternatively, use Auto ND to maintain consistent exposure when moving between different lighting conditions, such as indoors and outdoors, without constantly changing iris, ISO, or shutter speed.

Accurate LCD Monitor and OLED Viewfinder
The NX800 is equipped with a 3.5" LCD monitor (approx. 2.76 million dots) offering excellent brightness and clarity. It tilts up, down, and backward to help you find a comfortable viewing angle. A clip-on LCD hood can be attached for use in bright environments, and the screen can be folded away even with the hood installed.

For more precise viewing, the 0.39" high-contrast OLED viewfinder provides approximately 2.36 million dots and blocks external light to support accurate framing and focus.

Compact Design and Convenient Storage
The EVF and LCD panel can be folded away to make the camera more compact for transport and storage. The main body weighs approximately 1.93 kg and measures about 175.6 x 201.3 x 371.1 mm (W x H x D). When stored with the EVF and LCD folded in, and without the lens hood, mic holder, or large eyecup, the size reduces to approximately 175.6 x 175.4 x 285.1 mm.

Flexible Camera Control and Customisation
The NX800 is designed to be operated the way you like to work. Two independent control rings for focus and zoom, and two dials for iris and variable ND are placed side by side for intuitive exposure and framing control. There are 12 assignable buttons (ASSIGN 1–11 plus the Focus Push Auto button), which can be mapped to many different camera functions.

AUTO / MANUAL Switch
If your shooting environment changes suddenly, an AUTO / MANUAL switch lets you instantly hand over control to the camera. In AUTO mode, Auto ND, Auto Iris, Auto Gain, Auto Shutter, and Auto White Balance are engaged to maintain usable exposure and color.

4-Channel Audio Recording
Capture up to four channels of audio using the dual XLR inputs and the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe. Simple File Transfers
Proxy and original clips can be uploaded from the memory card to a cloud or FTP server directly from the camera. Once a destination server is registered, files can be transferred automatically after recording stops. Proxy clips may be split into segments and sequentially uploaded while recording continues. C3 Portal (Creator’s Cloud for enterprise, paid, region-dependent) further speeds up remote access and editing.

Dual Memory Card Slots
Two media slots support both CFexpress Type A and SD cards. You can record simultaneously for backup, or use relay recording to switch cards automatically when one becomes full.
