Panasonic S1 Body (SKU DC-S1E-K)

The Panasonic Lumix DC-S1 is a full-frame mirrorless camera designed as a versatile tool for both still photography and video production, housed in a strong, weather-resistant body. It uses a 24.2MP full-frame MOS sensor paired with an updated Venus Engine processor to deliver high image quality, fast performance, and reliable handling in demanding conditions.

With its 24.2MP full-frame sensor and advanced processing, the S1 delivers excellent detail, smooth tonal transitions, and rich color. The camera supports continuous shooting at up to 9 fps and offers an extended sensitivity range that reaches up to ISO 204800, making it suitable for low-light work. For video, it can record UHD 4K 30p using full-pixel readout, with 4:2:0 10-bit color and no recording time limit, as well as UHD 4K 60p for up to 29 minutes 59 seconds. HDR recording is available via a dedicated Hybrid Log Gamma mode, and a paid firmware update can further expand recording capabilities with 4:2:2 10-bit internal capture and V-Log for greater grading flexibility.

The sensor also supports Panasonic’s DFD (Depth-From-Defocus) contrast-detection autofocus system, which delivers fast, accurate focusing and subject tracking. Built-in sensor-shift image stabilization provides up to 5.5 stops of compensation, helping to keep handheld shots sharp.

Beyond imaging performance, the S1 stands out with a robust body design. It features a 5.76M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with high magnification and a smooth refresh rate, along with a 3.2" 2.1M-dot triaxial tilting touchscreen LCD that makes composing and reviewing images easy from a wide range of angles, including vertical shooting. The magnesium-alloy body is fully weather-sealed against dust, splashes, and cold temperatures, allowing you to keep shooting in harsh environments. A top status LCD gives quick access to key settings at a glance.

For storage, the S1 includes dual card slots: one XQD and one SD. This allows you to separate RAW and JPEG files, record backups to both cards, or use overflow recording to maximize shooting time. The SD slot supports UHS-II speeds, and the XQD slot is designed to be compatible with CFexpress cards through a future firmware update. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for remote control and wireless image transfer to smartphones and tablets.

24.2MP Full-Frame MOS Sensor and Venus Engine

The S1’s full-frame 24.2MP MOS sensor and Venus Engine processor are tuned to deliver high sensitivity, wide dynamic range, and flexible shooting options. Technologies such as Multipixel Luminance Generation and Intelligent Detail Processing help suppress color moiré and preserve fine detail. Color Control enhances color accuracy in both highlights and shadows.

The powerful processing engine keeps noise under control across the ISO range from 100 to 51200 (expandable to 50–204800), and supports full-resolution continuous shooting up to 9 fps with AF-S, or 6 fps with AF-C, for more than 90 consecutive RAW frames.

UHD 4K HDR Video Recording

The S1 is also a strong video camera. It supports:

This system can compensate for approximately 6 stops of camera shake, improving both stills and video, particularly in low light and at longer focal lengths.

DFD Autofocus System

The DFD (Depth-From-Defocus) autofocus system quickly calculates subject distance and adjusts focus in as little as 0.08 seconds, with sensor-lens communication up to 480 fps. This contrast-detection system is optimized for both still photography and video, and uses Advanced AI to analyze subject type, color, size, and movement, improving tracking performance.

• Face and eye detection simplify portrait shooting, allowing the camera to prioritize focus as precisely as the subject’s pupil.

• AF sensitivity and speed are adjustable to suit different shooting scenarios.

• 225 AF areas give fine control over focus placement.

• Low Light AF supports focusing down to –6 EV, allowing the camera to focus even in very dim conditions.

• Burst: Continuously records 8MP stills at 60 or 30 fps (3:2 or 4:3), or 18MP stills at 30 fps, ideal for fast action.

• Pre-Burst: Records one second before and one second after you press the shutter, giving you up to 60 frames to choose from when the exact moment is hard to predict.

• Burst (S/S): Lets you playback video, pause at the desired moment, and press the shutter to save the frame as a single 8MP or 18MP still.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Connectivity
