Magus 10PL60V Plan 10х/0.25 ∞/1.2 H60mm Objective (85120)

This objective is designed for brightfield microscopy. The MAGUS Bio V360 microscope kit includes phase objectives, which contain a metal film ring etched onto the inner lens. This ring is required for phase-contrast observations, as it introduces a quarter-wavelength phase shift relative to the remaining light and reduces overall light transmission. For this reason, objectives without phase plates are recommended for standard brightfield observations.

Optical performance and resolution

A 10×/0.25 objective provides a resolution limit of 1.1 µm. Chromatic aberrations are corrected for blue and red light, while spherical aberration is corrected for green. Field curvature is corrected across approximately 90% of the field of view diameter.

Mechanical and optical design

The objective is designed for use with an infinity-corrected optical system and has a parfocal distance of 60 mm. When used with a 10× eyepiece with a 22 mm field number, the resulting field of view diameter is 2.2 mm. The objective is intended for use with dishes featuring a bottom thickness of 1.2 mm.

Useful magnification range

When using a 10× objective, the lower limit of useful magnification is 125×. Below this level, specimen details formed by the objective cannot be clearly distinguished. The upper limit of useful magnification is 250×; beyond this point, increased magnification does not reveal additional detail and is considered ineffective. With a 10×/0.25 objective, 12.5× to 25× eyepieces are recommended to fully utilize the useful magnification range, while 10× eyepieces are suitable for scanning the specimen and locating areas of interest.

Plan achromatic design

Plan achromatic objectives produce images that remain in focus both at the center and toward the edges of the field, resulting in minimal distortion. This characteristic makes them well suited for digital imaging and for use with wide-field eyepieces offering a 22 mm field of view.
