Magus Lum V500L Fluorescence Inverted Microscope (82909)

The MAGUS Lum V500L is an inverted microscope designed for fluorescence microscopy in reflected light and for brightfield and phase-contrast microscopy in transmitted light. Fluorescence observation is performed using filter sets for the DAPI, FITC, and TRITC fluorochromes. The inverted design allows specimens to be examined directly in common laboratory vessels such as Petri dishes and flasks. The maximum vessel height is 55 mm in the standard position, or up to 165 mm when the stand is tilted. The optical system is optimized for lab ware with a bottom thickness of 1.2 mm.

Description

This microscope is suitable for research, routine laboratory work, and educational use.

Optics

The microscope offers two connection options for imaging and display. The trinocular tube is intended for mounting a monitor (not included), while a side port on the microscope body is used for mounting a digital camera (not included). Beam-splitting options include 100/0 or 0/100 on the body, and 100/0 or 50/50 on the trinocular head. The eyepiece tubes are inclined at 45 degrees for comfortable viewing, and they can be rotated by 180 degrees during assembly.

The kit includes six infinity-corrected plan achromatic objectives with long working distances. Three objectives are intended for brightfield and fluorescence observation, and three are designed for phase-contrast work. A six-position revolving nosepiece located beneath the stage allows all objectives to be mounted and selected quickly.

Illumination

Fluorescence excitation is provided by a 5 W LED light source with an operating life of approximately 50,000 hours and no need for replacement. Three excitation filter sets are included for DAPI, FITC, and TRITC. LED illumination is energy efficient, delivers stable color output, switches on and off instantly, and does not overheat during extended use, making it well suited for universities and training laboratories.

Transmitted-light illumination is also provided by a 5 W LED source. It delivers sufficient brightness for both brightfield and phase-contrast observation with all supported objectives.

Both reflected and transmitted illumination systems can be adjusted using Köhler illumination. Proper Köhler setup helps achieve maximum resolution for each objective and produces a clear, evenly illuminated image without artifacts or edge darkening.

The microscope is equipped with a phase-contrast condenser turret. Three positions are dedicated to phase objectives with magnifications of 10x, 20x, and 40x, while the fourth position is used for brightfield. Phase rings can be centered, and switching between techniques is performed by rotating the control dial.

Stage and focusing

The fixed stage includes a mechanical holder for moving laboratory vessels and three cup holders in different sizes. The vessel can be moved smoothly in two perpendicular horizontal directions. The focusing system includes both coarse and fine adjustments. The coarse focus control includes a locking knob and tension adjustment. Ergonomically shaped controls help the user maintain a comfortable, relaxed posture during work.

Accessories

The microscope can be expanded with additional MAGUS eyepieces, calibration slides, and compatible digital cameras.
