Description
The MAGUS Metal V700 BD is an inverted metallurgical microscope in which the revolving nosepiece is positioned beneath the specimen and observation is performed using reflected light. It supports brightfield, darkfield, and polarized light microscopy. The microscope is designed for examining metals, alloys, semiconductors, and other opaque materials, including large and heavy specimens weighing up to 2 kg. It is widely used in industrial production, manufacturing plants, quality control laboratories, universities, and research centers.
Optical configuration
The microscope head can be installed in the standard orientation or rotated 180°, depending on workspace requirements. The system supports simultaneous visual observation and digital imaging. A trinocular tube is integrated into the microscope head, while an additional side camera port is located on the body. Beam-splitting options include 50:50 and 100:0 on the trinocular head, and 100:0 or 0:100 on the microscope body, allowing flexible configuration for camera and monitor use.
A five-position revolving nosepiece is mounted beneath the specimen. Four slots are occupied by the supplied objectives, with one additional slot available for an optional objective. All objectives are marked BD, indicating they are optimized for brightfield and darkfield reflected-light microscopy and feature a long working distance.
Illumination system
The microscope uses a 50 W halogen light source that produces warm, comfortable illumination, reducing eye strain during prolonged observation sessions. The high light output ensures sharp, detailed images with all supported objectives and techniques.
The light source can be centered along three axes, and Köhler illumination is achieved using adjustable aperture and field diaphragms. The reflected-light illumination system also incorporates a polarization unit and a darkfield device, expanding contrast and analytical capabilities.
Stage and focusing system
The stage features a round, rotating stage plate positioned at the center. Interchangeable plates are available with 10 mm, 20 mm, or 30 mm central apertures, allowing adaptation to different specimen sizes and applications. Once placed on the stage, the specimen is secured with a holder and can be moved smoothly along the X and Y axes.
Focusing is performed using coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs. The coarse focus includes both a lock and tension adjustment, while fine focusing enables precise control for high-magnification work. The focusing knobs are positioned on both sides of the microscope at a low height, allowing the user to rest their hands on the table for a relaxed and ergonomic working posture.
Accessories and expandability
The capabilities of the MAGUS Metal V700 BD can be further expanded with optional accessories. These include additional eyepieces, brightfield and darkfield long working distance objectives, digital cameras, and calibration slides, allowing the microscope to be tailored to specific inspection or research tasks.
