Sky-Watcher BKP Quattro 250/1000 OTA Newtonian Optical Tube (SW-1010)

The Sky-Watcher BKP Quattro 250/1000 is a fast Newtonian optical tube designed primarily for astrophotography while also delivering outstanding visual performance. Featuring a large 254 mm aperture and an ultra-fast f/3.9 focal ratio, this telescope captures significantly more light in shorter exposure times, making it an excellent choice for imaging faint deep-sky objects.

Compared to an f/5 telescope of the same aperture, the Quattro's fast optical system can reduce exposure times by approximately 36%, allowing more efficient imaging sessions. Its relatively compact optical tube and lower weight also make it easier to mount and transport than longer focal length telescopes with similar apertures.

For both astrophotography and visual observation, the use of a dedicated coma corrector is strongly recommended, as coma becomes noticeable in fast Newtonian systems with focal ratios around f/4.

Fast Newtonian optical system

The telescope uses a precision parabolic primary mirror designed to provide bright, high-contrast images with excellent light-gathering capability.

Its fast focal ratio makes it particularly suitable for imaging and observing:

  • Emission nebulae.

  • Reflection nebulae.

  • Galaxies.

  • Star clusters.

  • Wide-field deep-sky targets.

The large aperture also delivers excellent performance when observing the Moon and planets.

The 254 mm primary mirror gathers approximately 1,317 times more light than the unaided human eye, allowing observation of celestial objects down to approximately magnitude 14.6 under dark skies.

Its optical resolution enables separation of double stars with angular distances greater than approximately 0.46 arcseconds (Dawes criterion).

Optimized for astrophotography

The Quattro series has been developed with astronomical imaging as its primary application.

Precision Crayford focuser

The telescope is equipped with a premium 2-inch Crayford focuser featuring dual-speed microfocus adjustment for precise focusing.

The focuser includes:

When equipped with an erecting lens and mounted on a suitable tripod or mount, the telescope can also be used for basic long-distance terrestrial observation.
