Magus Lum VD500L Fluorescence Inverted Digital Microscope (83022)
The MAGUS Lum V500L is an inverted microscope designed for fluorescence microscopy in reflected light as well as brightfield and phase-contrast microscopy in transmitted light. For fluorescence observation, it uses DAPI, FITC, and TRITC fluorochrome filters. The inverted configuration makes it possible to study samples directly in laboratory vessels such as Petri dishes and flasks. Standard lab ware up to 55 mm in height can be used, or up to 165 mm when the stand is tilted. The optical system is optimized for lab ware with a bottom thickness of 1.2 mm.

Description
This microscope is suitable for research, routine laboratory work, and educational applications.
Digital camera
The MAGUS CLM90 digital camera is designed for fluorescence and darkfield microscopy. It features a 7.1-megapixel sensor and produces realistic images with a resolution of 3200 × 2200 pixels. The camera is recommended for use with 4x, 10x, 20x, and 40x objectives, allowing fine details to be clearly observed even at low magnifications.
Video recording is available at 51.3 frames per second or 133.8 frames per second, depending on resolution. Video playback is smooth, with natural transitions between frames and no visible delay, making it well suited for observing moving samples and for classroom demonstrations. The camera uses a USB 3.0 interface, providing data transfer speeds up to ten times faster than USB 2.0. This high-speed performance makes it suitable for professional laboratories, research environments, and university training.
Optical system
The microscope provides two mounting options for digital imaging and external displays. A trinocular tube is available for connecting a monitor, while a side port on the body is used to mount a digital camera. Beam splitting options include 100/0 or 0/100 on the microscope body and 100/0 or 50/50 on the trinocular head. The eyepiece tubes are inclined at 45 degrees for comfortable observation and can be rotated by 180 degrees during assembly.
The kit includes six infinity-corrected plan achromatic objectives with long working distances. Three objectives are intended for brightfield and fluorescence microscopy, while the other three are designed for phase-contrast observation. A six-position revolving nosepiece located beneath the stage allows all objectives to be mounted simultaneously.
Illumination
Fluorescence excitation is provided by a 5 W LED with a service life of approximately 50,000 hours and no need for replacement. Three excitation filters are included for DAPI, FITC, and TRITC fluorochromes. LED illumination is energy efficient, easy to maintain, and recommended for educational institutions. It provides stable color output, switches on and off instantly, and does not overheat during extended operation.
Transmitted light illumination is also provided by a 5 W LED, offering sufficient brightness for brightfield and phase-contrast microscopy with all objectives. Both reflected and transmitted illumination systems support Köhler illumination, ensuring maximum resolution, uniform brightness, and sharp images without edge darkening.
The microscope is equipped with a phase-contrast condenser featuring three slots for 10x, 20x, and 40x phase objectives and one free slot for brightfield observation. Phase rings can be centered, and switching between microscopy techniques is performed by rotating a control dial.
Stage and focusing
The fixed stage includes a mechanical attachment for moving laboratory vessels and three interchangeable cup holders of different sizes. Lab ware can be moved smoothly in two perpendicular horizontal directions. The focusing system includes both coarse and fine focus controls. The coarse focus has a locking mechanism and adjustable tension. Ergonomically designed focusing knobs allow comfortable operation and help maintain a relaxed working posture.
Accessories and expandability
The microscope can be expanded with additional eyepieces, calibration slides, and digital cameras from the MAGUS accessory range.
