Description
MAGUS Lum 400 Fluorescence & Brightfield Microscope
The MAGUS Lum 400 is a versatile fluorescence microscope designed for advanced diagnostics and research. It leverages both fluorescence (reflected light) and brightfield (transmitted light) microscopy techniques. With optional accessories, you can also explore darkfield, phase contrast, and polarization methods. This makes it ideal for applications such as DNA analysis, pathogen studies, sanitary and epidemiological surveillance, and forensic examinations.
Optics
The MAGUS Lum 400 features a trinocular head with 360° rotatable eyepiece tubes, allowing for easy adjustment to the user's height. A digital camera can be mounted in the trinocular tube (camera not included).
- Equipped with a revolving nosepiece that holds up to five objectives, including four infinity plan achromatic objectives and a fluo objective for fluorescence observations.
- Objectives included: 4x, 10x, 40x (fluo), and 100x for brightfield microscopy.
- The nosepiece is oriented internally, allowing visibility of the selected objective.
Illumination
The microscope is equipped with dual light sources:
- Reflected Light: A 100W mercury lamp with efficient heat dissipation, suitable for fluorescence due to its discrete peaks. Features four excitation filters: UV, violet, blue, and green.
- Transmitted Light: A 30W halogen bulb with a color temperature that reduces eye strain during prolonged observations. Includes a condenser with slots for phase contrast or darkfield sliders.
Both transmitted and reflected light support the Köhler illumination method, ensuring clear, artifact-free imaging.
Stage and Focusing Mechanism
The microscope boasts an ergonomically designed stage with a removable specimen holder and no positioning rack. The black stage plate minimizes stray light during reflected light observations. Coaxial focusing knobs, with coarse and fine adjustments, are conveniently located on each side.
Accessories
The MAGUS Lum 400 can be customized with additional accessories, including a digital camera, phase contrast device, polarization device, darkfield condenser, eyepieces, and objectives. A calibration slide can be added for object measurement.
